I'm not shocked at all that Hart is now looking at White, I have said from the beginning of this search that he would be the next BB coach. IS there anyone on here that thinks it will be someone other than White?

Nah.....he is just a big name in the SEC and accomplished more than I realized. Googled him and it said....From 1979 to 1985 Newton served as chair of the NCAA Rules Committee. During his tenure the NCAA adopted the shot clock, the three-point line, and the coaches' box. Also said under his watch he was responsible for allowing professional basketball players to represent USA in the olympics. Pretty cool.

If White declines they'd likely go to Tyndall next. All indications I've seen are that the odds are strongly in favor of White accepting position at UT

I did not realize he oversaw so many changes. It is pretty cool.

Surely the fact that White is being widely reported as the "focus" of the coaching search means it's close to a done deal, right?

I can't remember if they reported on other candidates like this during the football coaching search.

I seem to recall that the Strong part of the search seemed similar.

It was all done until Louisville came with the big bucks! La Tech doesn't have the big bucks....this is looking like the Butch Jones hire....Peyton told Butch about UT...Tyler Summitt telling White about Tennessee

I just meant the reporting part..."The focus of Tennessee's search seems to be turning to Strong" that's all I meant...

Several have suggested Tyler for coach, lol. Even saying he is an up and comer. Maybe he and White are going to be co-coaches (sarcasm).

As likely as it looks at the moment, I don't think it will happen. Maybe I'm over thinking it, probably will be wrong.

I may be wrong too....but it just has that feel that it will be White. I am really hoping so. Do you think he would pass on us.....or we go after someone else?

lol, well that's fair. If I were his dad at Duke and he called me for some advice, I wonder if I'd think this is the right place at the right time.

As a Vol fan, the attitude is of course he will come, we'll double his salary, but that's not all there is to it...

I'm doubtful that Summitt is recruiting his employer's successful men's coach away to his alma mater. Likely, Tyler knows who puts food on the table.

You don't get a splash hire for $1.75 million per year which is all Tennessee was going to pay. Nevertheless, if it comes about it could be a good hire. It does feel like our administration is very content to just be a team that wins between 18-23 games per year and is always on the bubble come Selection Sunday. There are several programs in the SEC that would trade places with us to have that but there is no ambition here for greatness.

I don't think it would ever be allowed to look like he passed, it just doesn't work that way.

When I put everything to the side, everything we've just been through with a young coach, everything I know about the fan's expectations, the way the roster looks, having to be a guy with 3 years of experience and going up against Calipari, Donovan, Pearl, Stallings etc...I can see him taking the job.

The problem is, I can't put all that aside, if I were in his shoes, I wouldn't put all of that aside.
