I'm not sure why everyone's bashing VQ for the update. I've seem multiple threads about where's the rumors, and why aren't we hearing about flights, and how come everything's so quiet. Yet when you get an update you want to bash it.

I didn't see anyone else reporting that Hart had a meeting yesterday with a candidate, if that was common knowledge then my apologies. People were worried the weekend may slow things up, but Hubbs was pointing out that that didn't appear to be the case as there was meetings yesterday.

Maybe it's just me, but it seeks contradicting to be begging for updates and complaining about how quiet things have been, and then complain about an update.

His reply

"Nick Saban is the best financial investment this university has ever made. We have made an investment that's been returned many fold."

Keep the updates coming BTO. Most of us appreciate it. Others just need something to whine about.

It was a joke of an update-almost an insult of an update. If that is all that they had to give, then they should not have made it alt all.

Speak for yourself then, I appreciated knowing Hart was meeting with a candidate yesterday. If you don't wanna know anything except when the official announcment is that's your choice.

Thanks for the summary. Haven't been able to keep up with the search. In my opinion, no way Cronin leaves a historically top 15 program and his alma mater for us. But I'd love to be proven wrong.

I think Chris Mack is our best hope right now. Then, Michael White.

Anyone could figure out that he was working with someone, without Hubbs trying too cobble some sort of message out that was put out to settle the restless natives who knew as much about the search as he did.

For those of us that had the mental image of Hart at the Knoxville Zoo, throwing peanuts into a chimpanzee cage, with a burner beside him on the park bench...

News that a plane is involved is welcomed.

The point of the update is that while they thought nothing would be happening this weekend due to Easter, apparently there is. So yes that is note worthy imo.

If Hart is not working ion the phone with his staff or candidates, he is not doing his job. I have a hard believing that he is not doing his job.

If you've ever been on that board, you'd know that those posters are psychotic and demand updates around the clock. Hubbs has to put out there what he has even if it's an update like that one.

That's the point, it was more than making phone calls. When all of them board a plane, things are getting serious with candidate.

how much sway do the big boosters have on hart with this decision? I'm not saying he calls them up to ask their opinion, but I'm sure if he got close to hiring someone that a lot of the big dogs didn't like, he would hear about it

You are obviously not a Hubbs fan. But he has been providing quality information on UT for many years. If you don't like what he had to say, move on. No reason to condemn.

No, I like Brent. I am a VQ member. However, that update last night, was the weakest update that I have ever seen.

I take it you are Brent's brother or father.

Nope. Don't even know the guy, but I do listen to what he says, because he is usually right. Personally, I was happy to know Hart and staff flew north to talk to a potential candidate. That tells me we are likely to have someone in place by Monday.

Just wondering...but why did Hart have to bring in his assistants? How many people hover around an interview?

Hubbs is spoon fed information by UT. That is why people listen to him.
