The fans didn't hire these Black coaches y'all are using to prove the SEC isn't racist. There are plenty of racist fans.
Don't want to ruffle feathers, but there are always two sides.
Calling Martin things like "Kwanzo". That is not his name. Maybe it is meant to be rude, but it could just as well be that that spelling is the way it "sounds" in American English. I just thought it was phonetic spelling. You should see what some people do to my name; never was insulted, just figured they couldn't spell.
Saying he mumbles and you can't understand him. He is hard to understand; I always thought it was due to his deep, soft voice. But, whatever, I've never heard mumbling equated to racism, thought it was just mumbling.
Saying he is a bad representative off court when he did better than Pearl off court. OK, got me there; I've never heard it said he was a bad representative off, or on, the court. He's no "showman/salesman" like Pearl, but who is and why should he be? I always heard he was a good man...course after he left there were some feathers ruffled, but so what, nothing compared to Kiffen!
When Strong was gonna be hired talked about how he sounds . Said he should only be a coordinator here. Only thing I heard was he was a good coach and a lot of people wanted him...as head coach.
Calling Shaka Smart Shaka Zulu. Are you joking? That's a compliment. I knew about Shaka Zulu even before they put it on TV.
"Shaka kaSenzangakhona, also known as Shaka Zulu, was one of the most influential monarchs of the Zulu Kingdom. Wikipedia"
I might inadvertently refer to someone named "Shaka Last Name" as Shaka Zulu simply from association of names, or as a compliment. Would never think it was racist.
All of these have racial implications. I just don't see it. There's racists everywhere and they come from all races, but I don't feel that is applicable with UT and Martin. I was all for giving Martin a fourth year, only seemed fair, and I was glad when he said he was staying. But I was concerned about the apparent lack of development of numerous players, so I'm not crying he's gone, and I certainly wish him well and success in the future.
