Amaker took over the worst possible situation at Michigan, they were mired in the NCAA investigation from the FAB 5 violations and they were flat out terrible on the court, winning 10 games the year before he got there.

His first year Michigan had imposed a self ban on the post season, though in his second year he took Michigan from 8th to 3rd in the Big 10 they were banned from that post season too. The NCAA investigation didn't conclude until his third year. Michigan got hammered with 4 years probation and they lost a scholarship a year from 2004-2008 and were initially banned for 2 more years from the post-season.

His third year Michigan finished with 19 wins and an RPI of 37 and still didn't get an at-large bid, they went on to win the NIT after the NCAA lifted the ban on the 3rd year in the post-season on appeal. He finished with 23 wins that year.

He'd win 20+ his final two seasons at Michigan but was still fired right as the probation and sanctions were ending.

This is what im saying..cal couldn't do
much with that.

U forgot his amazing recruiting at seaton hall btw

He's only coached Women players and doesn't have all that much experience. The only one to do it was Van Chancellor. He Coached Men's basketball at Troy and Women's basketball at Ole Miss.

Did you really just give a serious reply to this thread?

If he coached men I'd say let's do it. If you don't see this kid as an up and coming then you're blind. I'll trade him for holly any day.

Let's let him win his first game as a HC before we ordain him as a up and comer.

It is being reported that Howland and Tubby Smith contacted the university yesterday interested in the job.

Hopefully they at least try to get Shaka Smart. If he turns it down, so be it but you never know. Maybe he didn't want to go to UCLA, I honestly didn't see Martin going to Cal.

Pitino Jr. isn't the right fit imo. Name recognition is all he's got at this point in his career. Besides, do we really want the Italian mob running the show?

Yes, Italian coaches always win! Pittino, Carlesimo, Calipari, Rollie, Carnseca. I could go on and on

Heard an intersting name on the radio this morning and I wanted to throw it out to VN and see what you guys thought. Any one remember Mike Davis? He coached at Indiana and UAB, and is currently coaching at Texas Southern which made the first round of the Tourney this year.

Oh and one other bit of information, he played at BAMA! :)

Real possibility or false hope?

He was offered an offensive amount of money when he interviewed with us in 2011.

His wife is an administrator or a teacher at VCU, so she is not going to want to move, just for the sake of moving. It will have to be worth their while.
