Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

Probably a stupid question, but can an extra spring practice rollover for the Fall practices?

My initial guess would be no. Just wondering...

Yeah, but they couldve used the practice after the spring game. Couldve had practice today to correct issues they saw on the field

Yea, this is what I thought they were going to do. I was stunned to find out they left a day on the table. Local sports radio hosts had the same reaction.

Wasting a practice makes zero sense. At the very least, they could've used Friday to educate the team on 'day before game' walkthroughs of the game plan. Since much of the team is new, this would've been a fine use of the practice time.

The post O&W game stretch through the beginning of fall camp is the worst part of the offseason for me. At least we have the rest of the team arriving in May/June/July. Those months are usually completely forgettable as far as football news goes.

Recruiting is a much bigger issue than missing walkthrough. If we don't get the talent, won't matter who coaches them, we still don't beat bammer.

They play 10X as many games, but the top contracts aren't worth 10X more than the top football contracts. It's not as ridiculous when you're looking at what you pay players per game they actually play. Except starting pitchers.

Risk factor cancels all that out.

Don't call me crazy but I think Butch is very content with how this spring went and that's why he wasn't worried about missing a practice. The offense looks much, much improved and the defense will only improve when the newcomers arrive in a month.

:good!:Who cares about Baseball? This is football country....

I couldn't agree more. Apparently some don't understand the concept of off topic forums to post crap about rap music and baseball. Flame away folks but I come here to catch up on UT Football and don't give a rat's a$$ about anything not related to same.

I didn't mean not a fan as in "I don't like the guy."

I meant not a fan as in "I'm not overvaluing this guy like I would if I was a huge Angel's fan." I do dislike the last name Trout though. It sounds fishy. I didn't like Tim Salmon or Anthony Bass either.

Ha... That's a good one. You sir get a thumbs up from this guy.

Mike Trout is putting up better numbers for his age than Ruth, Mantle, Griffey, Rodriguez, etc. Numbers don't lie. He isn't overvalued imo

They practiced Thursday and were playing a game Saturday. Butch probably decided the guys needed a break Friday instead of practice. They were only going to wear helmets working mostly on special teams anyway, it wasn't going to be full pads.

I think there could have been a little better planning from the beg., so they weren't going to have to do 3 consecutive days of practice. Who knows, maybe it was a good moral booster though.
