I would base the raise on the teams record. I would base it off of his hand in the recruiting class that was just signed.
I mean, I would not be sad if my boss gave me an extra 25k or a 7% raise... I just think that is the ONE guy we can't let get away and I would make it known with a slightly sweater deal.
People see things differently sometimes. Some on here made a big deal about Dobbs running for 60 yards while ignoring that he fumbled the snap, which would have gotten him killed against most SEC defenses. Then he gets arm tackled poorly by several second/third team defenders while running straight up the middle. But as a result he should be starter or ahead of Fergie based on many posts. For all we know Fergie may have the Bray syndrome - talent with not enough maturity. The difference is Butch is his HC versus the doofus.
This.
And this.
Success this fall and raises/extensions will be abundant imo
When the dust settles it more than likely will be 24-25 on the class number IMO.
Ainge will say anything for attention and ratings. The coaches will do anything ethical and motivational to bring out the best in a player. His description of the defense used against Fergie was spot on. So Ainge probably blew this up for selfish motives while being correct in his observations. Maturity and Ainge in the same sentence? Seems like a contradiction in terms to me. It wasn't long ago we were talking about his DUI - following his cleansing coming out on his drug problems. But now he is mature? Nah.

I'm not surprised, and yet I'm always surprised at the knee-jerk-ish reactions from the spring game. It's one snapshot in a body of spring work. It's also important to remember that when one unit shines, they have to make another unit look bad.
I get it though. What else are we going to talk about?
Most of what I'd heard about Dobbs this spring was accuracy and ball control problems. If memory serves, that was a common theme for him as a freshman as well.
Worley is the only QB with consistently positive reports this spring. That said, it's a long time until fall camp is over. Personally, I don't care who wins it. I just want consistent QB play to allow these other guys to run rampant.

I completely agree with Ainge. I'm 100% in the Riley camp but he will never play here unless he overcomes his high school mindset. He is without a doubt the DUMBEST QB on our roster, probably the laziest too, and it's a shame with all the physical talent he has. He may be cocky but everything I've read, heard, and seen since he arrived on campus screams that he doesn't have anything at all to be cocky about. He is such a complete and utter waste of talent at this point it's sickening. Just another Peyton Manning wannabe without having a damn clue what it took for PM to reach his level of excellence in his craft. Riley is the typical dumb azz top jock in high school that washes out at the next level because he has sh*t for brains. I'm on a roll.![]()
Bringing the VFL swag strong and teaching the youngins to love the Vols. Not a damn thing wrong with that in my book.
My assement of Ferguson was not a knee jerk recaction. I think based on all qualities he's the best QB on the roster. It's the mental aspect and decison making that's keeping him from running away with the starting job.
The most significant item, other than that each assistant coach was renewed for two years through February 28, 2016, is that linebackers coach and superstar recruiter Tommy Thigpen received a modest $25,000 bump in pay. Thigpen, named earlier this year as Rivals.com's National Recruiter of the Year for his work in helping amass Tennessee's top-five recruiting class, saw his supplemental pay nudged from $100,000 annually to $125,000.
Like each of the Vols' assistant coaches, Thigpen receives $5,000 in camp money as part of his total compensation package, per the original and modified agreements, and now earns $375,000. His $25,000 raise reflects a 7.1-percent increase.
Jones' top two assistants, defensive coordinator John Jancek and offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian, remain on two-year deals with identical base and supplemental salaries totaling $475,000 --- with the camp money noted above edging that figure to $480,000 apiece.
All of the coaches' bonus and buyout structures remain unchanged. A bowl appearance earns each member of the staff an 8.33-percent bonus; a Capital One, Cotton, Chick-fil-A or Outback pushes that number to 12; and an BCS appearance or playoff berth nets 16 percent. An SEC title game appearance is worth an additional four percent.
I think it's weird that we even know how much they make. I kind of feel like it's none of my business. But that's just me. I guess some people who are big donors want to know how their money's being spent. But I don't really care. Just hire the man, pay the man and win games. The details of that whole dynamic don't really intrigue me. Seems kind of awkward.
