I don't think he's in town yet but it was confirmed by Fortenberry last night that he is planning to be in Knoxville this weekend.

Hope he comes in. It's always hard to get these FL kids out for visits but he's going to get a lot of love if he does. VolNation loves this guy.

So much for Ohio State being a lock for this kid. Sounds like he gave them the deuces, in order to come to Knoxville for our game. I like it!

I was there too, and I agree. I don't think the 98 Florida game will ever be topped, for the following reasons:

First, there were over 107,000 fans - 5,000 more than our current stadium capacity. Second, the outcome couldn't have been more satisfying and cathartic for Vol fans coming after so many catastrophic Florida meltdowns during the mid-90s (although a win over a Kiffen-coached Alabama team this year might come close). Third, Neyland Stadium didn't have to resort to pre-recorded music or other Jumbotron gimmicks to keep everyone's attention between breaks. Finally, 1998 was before people started doing that effiminate "WOOOO" during the chorus to Rocky Top.

Here's the missed field goal again, for old time's sake: https://www.youtube.com/v/xakh6kR9ChM#t=25m31s
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. :good!:

Gentry is looking more and more remote... With that caveat I hope we get this "cat". :wink2:

Yes there will be. Not sure if you heard about this or not, but apparently UT wants Gibson at left tackle. They think he has a lot of potential as a "Big Ugly". Tifwiw.

I love the fact that I have provided you guys with some entertainment on Vol Nation! It's all in good fun! Go Vols!:clapping:

Still think he's a Buckeye.

I sure hope not, but any prospect that ends up choosing to play for Ohio State over a promising SEC school like Tennessee was probably too soft anyways. The SEC is where you go to compete against the best of the best and see where you stand. Ohio St is where you go to coast through college football. I'm going to give Torrance Gibson the benefit of the doubt and assume he's not a coasting softy.

I would expect nothing less in a post from a man with scotch and a cigar in his profile picture. :rock2:

Sigh. I want Gibson as much as anybody, and I wouldn't deny that the SEC is the best conference. But that's just a silly statement. Ohio State played:

Michigan state - beat #5 Stanford OOC

Wisconsin - played right with #9 South Carolina OOC

Penn State - Beat #15 Wisconsin

Played right with #12 Clemson.

Also played a decent Michigan team.

That isn't a murderer's row...but it isn't weak enough to suggest that anybody who wants to play there is afraid of competition.
