I spent some time this evening listening to the podcasts on TSR, skipping to the good parts, and one comment I heard a number of times, and it's something I've read in various threads on VN, is if Worley is the starter for us at QB, "I'm okay with that."
I've heard all kinds of reasons why people want Riley but the phrase "I'm okay with that" doesn't seem to be used by as many in that discussion. To me this suggests that while there's a lot of people who really want Riley for any number of reasons, they understand we may have to SETTLE for Justin.
At this point, today, based on all the reports, I would not name a QB and, unless something changed significantly between now and game day Aug 30, I would hold off naming a QB. On Aug 30 I'd give Riley the first series and maybe the second series and maybe the third series. If he performed reasonably well he'd be my QB. If not, I'd fall back to Justin, but I would not settle for what I perceive as less without first knowing that I had exhausted my options to do better.
I suppose in a way you could say that I would have made Riley the starter by default but was unwilling to commit publicly. I've seen other coaches do this in the past when they were uncertain starting out the season and had sufficient concerns to cause them to be hesitant in committing in advance of game evidence. We're just not really going to know what we want to know about Riley until he lines up in a real game and takes some snaps. Right?
What do you guys think?
P.S. Just for the record, "I'll be OKAY with who ever we have at QB."

I really do respect the coaches in this matter so this is just bar talk.
