Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

i dont see JRM getting beat out of a starting position, IMO hes a starter till he graduates......Hes a team guy and works his a$$ off to b great from what ive read and been told.....

Agree. I'm saying I think Bates could be special enough to fill the third LB spot right away when Maggitt lines up at DE.

We say this every year, but I think we have our best shot in a long time to beat them at Neyland this season. They can't just around our slow-ass D for 80 yd touchdowns anymore.

We play like shi* against FL every year. Its ridiculous

I don't have anything specific against McNeil - he seems to be a good guy and hard worker. But he seems slow and it appears they are looking for his replacement. It's telling he was the top ranked high school prospect in his class, and was so good relative to his peers that Sunseri and others at the time said he's the type of athlete future Tennessee classes should be filled with.

We are operating on a whole different level right now. It's fun!

Damn. Let that soak in for a few minutes.

I despise Dooley

I would definitely like to see opposing receivers with a lot of dropped passes due to being lit up on previous plays this year.

TKjr is made to play early. His football IQ is higher than the other DBs in this class. He's also very developed from a strength standpoint so I think he's more physically ready to challenge now. McNeil will have a hard time keeping him off the field. I wouldn't be surprised to see 3 freshmen line up in our nickel sets this year.

I could see all of this happening. TKJr will definitely see the field early and often.

I'm actually thinking that Gaulden is more likely to be the player that's hard to keep off the field. I think it's pretty well documented how good TK Jr. is and he's definitely very, very good. I think Gaulden, however, would have been a 5 star if he would have played 4 years of high school.

I agree. Gaulden is a playmaker. You play playmakers somewhere. A lot of snaps including ST.

This defense will be much faster and much more violent than in years past. While they'll be young I like their potential much more than the groups we've been putting out there. I'm extremely anxious to see Gaulden and Berry push at the CB spot. Also I want to see if McNeil can hold off TKjr. :)

That's what I believe will happen over time as well. That's when we will know for sure the corner is turned, when big gains of the past are turned into short ones with a RB or receiver getting lit up; when safeties start handling the edge closer to the LOS; when receivers start looking around for the d-back when the ball is in the air; and when QBs get happy feet in the pocket and look to run sideways. That sort of stuff.

I would rather them install the end game defensive scheme now and take our lumps this season so that the young bucks get the experience and know the ropes going forward.

It makes you wonder if the coaches really think that's where his future is at, or if they just need the help over there. Either way, I was hoping he would be a guy we were going to count on the defensive line this year.

Who knows. Maybe he turns out to be a really good OT. That would be a twist, and a much needed infusion of talent to that unit.

I think its a combination of both. IF they believe Carr is going to be a 3rd team DT, but has the athleticism and build to handle rush ends at LT. Feet and hands are already taught on DL.

Push pull drills, pass rush drills, and the overall understanding is there. Also he is what, 6'4 297? Thats great size for a LT in this offense.

Also, they havent had anyone show out at LT this spring. I think you wanna wait the spring and make sure Carr didnt work his way into the rotation at DT or that Blair didnt step up and grab his spot.

The longer this goes, the more intriguing it is. The best OL I played with in college was a DT, that moved to OT and was an absolutely beast. Was going to be a 2nd or 3rd rounder when he gave up football after his senior year a week before the draft.

Feet and hands wont be an issue, but if you move him this late its impossible for him to learn blocking assignments.

Anything interesting happening in here? I haven't been able to check the thread all day because of this...

I'm in the market for a new gas grill....under $500. Any suggestions?
Right now I'm leaning towards the new Char Broil infrared grill.

Has it already been posted that DeShaun Watson (QB Clemsob) broke his clavicle. Was worried about his size, great talent but that's what worries me about playing a freshmen DT QB.

And Green-Beckham has been suspended indefinitely. Could be Da'Rick clone
