BREAKING NEWS!!!Cuonzo Martin removes name from Marquette search

And got smashed by 19 in the Sweet 16 by a lower seed. 19 didn't even reflect the beatdown Pearl coached.

That was one of the worst officiated games I have ever seen. Chism was out if the game less than 1 minute into it. They were ****ing paid to make Louisville win. I still get mad over that.

Marquette is turning into a dumpster fire. Btw shame on y'all who are angry about this. Never seen a fanbase so upset about making the sweet 16 before. Especially that Shaun guy.

no disrespect, but when a team loses by 19, refs didn't cost them the game. I get more upset over the Michigan State loss than that one.

Any chance that CMM camp putting word out there that he turned down a job at Marquette to stay at UT in good faith as a PR move to apply pressure to UT to extend/raise? Just speculation to add to the current speculation. It's just beyond weird that he turned down that job with no offer on the table to UT. Even weirder that it is out there at this point with still no word from UT.

I've seen it all. Someone blames the refs for a 19 point beatdown by Louisville on arguably the best UT team in a very long time, in a game that was never close; but complains more about throwing it in to Stokes and blames Martin more than an obvious bad call against Michigan.

Some of these people are amazing. Simply amazing.

Yes, Michigan just let us back into the game out of pity. What game were you watching?? We scrapped, clawed, and flat out EARNED that comeback. And Michigan isn't a good team? They made the elite 8 and almost the final four AND won the big 10 this year. They are legit.

Also, we beat Iowa, UMass, and Mercer by double digits. We took care of business when we were supposed to in a way we were supposed to. What isn't there to like about that?

I never said Michigan let us back in out of pity. I said they let up when they got up by 15 and allowed us back in it. I didn't say we didn't deserve the comeback. I also didn't say Michigan wasn't a good team. I also didn't say this team didn't take care of business in the tourney. I did say we were lucky with the draws and that we have nothing outside of Richardson returning next year. If you are going to quote me don't make up things I never said.

That smells like BS.

Yeah, and if we are talking about coaching meltdown's, let's discuss the 20O7 Ohio State debacle in the Sweet 16

OMG did Stokes declare for the draft today. WHY HASN'T ANY ONE REPORTED THIS?

Didn't I read where Marquette has both an interim president and athletic director? I'm not sure i'd want to be hired by a guy who might soon be replaced. The next guy might not care for you much.

Totally agree. He didn't get the job and doing damage control. Hart knows what happened!

Agreed, but he has no real security at UT either, so would make more sense to at least get the bigger contract, meaning Marquette is more committed in terms of $, years, and a buyout

not saying that, I believe he got the job offer but was asking if it was possible that this was leaked to put pressure on UT to do a deal. In most eyes, it makes UT look horrible if CMM was offered a job and no effort was made to keep him. I believe CMM turned down Marquette.

Not a comforting feeling going in there for sure.

So is it possible that Martin just screwed himself? If the reports were true that UT might essentially be ready to move on (which I grant you may not be true), and Martin is calling their bluff, what if Hart says "Ok, well bye" and the talk about Marshall was legit?
