Dan McGuwire was 6'9 and played at San Diego State and was drafted. It the name sounds familiar he was Mark's brother.
-247the four-star junior quarterback from eldorado high school in albuquerque, n.m., said he came away from his weekend stay at tennessee with a really good feeling about the vols, and they set the bar pretty high during his first recruiting visit in more than nine months.
it went really well. I was pretty blown away by everything,
i had high expectations going into it, but i think it was even more than i thought it was going to be, to be honest with you. ... Being in the spot that i am and the location that im at, i havent been able to get out and see some big-time programs. But id have to say that tennessee set the bar pretty high, for sure, just from the personal experience.
i was amazed by everything, said gentry,
all of it was super nice. I mean, everything in the athletic center was awesome. But id have to say walking into neyland (stadium) for the first time was pretty amazing. It kind of blew me away a little bit. I wasnt expecting it to be so up-close and big.
i for sure got a better look into (the offense), seeing it live and everything, gentry said. i think, actually, i would fit in pretty well. I liked it. Theyre going more uptempo this year, and theyre utilizing the quarterback running a little bit and kind of letting him scramble. I like how theyre spreading it around the field, too, and theyre still maintaining their run game.
while he said hes not exactly sure where things stand among the teams hes considering, he admitted that he came away high on tennessee.
to be honest, i left with a really good feeling, gentry said. i like it there, so well see where everything goes.
gentry said hes planning to visit oklahoma state on friday and saturday.
unless im really dead set and i feel really comfortable, i think that im going to take another couple months (before deciding), gentry said. but you never know, so well see how everything plays out, i guess.
The coaching staff will go after this kid until he commits. Not sure what that means for Gibson as I know he has a later commitment time table. Nunez I'm not sure about either, but I'd expect Gentry to be higher than Nunez on our board. Jennings by all indications is a Vol, so that takes up one of the two QB spots in this class - question is, would the coaching staff risk over recruiting him for Gibson if Gibson continued to show strong interest?

Connor Shaw Who?
Zach has great shotgun mechanics, especially in the quick game and he doesnt false step at all. He gets the ball out very quick because his footwork is on point. His release is not the quickest in the history of football but he makes up for it with his shotgun mechanics and knowing where to throw the football, oh and he has a CANNON!
Throwing on the run is hard to teach, Zach has got that down. He makes throws in this video on the run that would make even NFL scouts raise their eyebrows. Twenty-two yard banana outs, 18 yard back to 15 comebacks, slot outs, razor routes etc. He throws it up the seem and across his body, even makes throws running to his left which is the hardest to do as a righty.
For a JR in high school his accuracy and arm strength are very impressive. Check the tape for the back shoulder fades in the red zone and in the open field. Throws deep balls with air, touch and hard up the seem. Hits the seem routes before they get 25 yards deep which is the mark of good coaching and again, a huge arm and great feet. Pocket presence is above average but his competition is not all that intense.
All in all this is a special QB and I am FULL GENTRY, watch the video and see for yourself.
Tennessee is definitely at the top, the No. 247-rated player in the Scout 300 said. Since the offer in early December that they put out for me, theyve routinely talked to me once a week. I cant remember the last time that I havent talked to them once or twice in a week. Theyve showed me their interest level is high and thats made my interest level high and the fact that coach Jake has been out 3-4 times and hes going to come back again in a couple weeks and coach Jones has been out. That makes me feel like theyre working really hard to recruit me, so thats something of value in my mind.
Theyre definitely weapons, Gentry said. I got to hang out with some of those guys for awhile on Saturday *Josh Malone,*Jalen*(Hurd), Daniel Helm,*Ethan Wolf. It was pretty awesome seeing some big-bodied guys that were super athletic and go reach out for the ball. Theyre definitely targets and would definitely make it a lot easier for the quarterbacks.

Said he is still "looking into" coming to the spring game. Vols lead for Gibson, Gentry, and presumably Jennings
