There's no question the coaching staff is emphasizing the fact we didn't sign a QB the year before as an opportunity for playing time to all of our 2015 QB prospects (Gibson, Gentry, Nunez, Jennings, etc), but I doubt they've told every prospect "we waited last year specifically so we could sign YOU" like they have with Gibson.
Coaches and players don't interract with each other in a vacuum. Word gets around, especially with Twitter and internet message boards where every prospect interview is scrutinized for detail. Thinking logically, I believe Gibson is our top target at QB because: (1) Gibson has stated on multiple occassions that our coaching staff has been waiting for him; (2) none of the other QB prospects have relayed publicly that our coaches have said the same thing to them; (3) the other QB prospects remain interested in signing with us; and (4) our coaches remain interested in signing Gibson.
If Butch Jones had told the other QB prospects the same thing he told Gibson, they would know from Gibson's statements that either Jones or Gibson was being dishonest. If Gibson was lying (or broke a promise to keep it quiet), Jones wouldn't remain interested in him; if Jones was lying, none of the other QBs would remain interested in Jones. The only explanation that reconciles points (1), (2), (3) and (4) is the likely scenario that Gibson is indeed the staff's most coveted QB prospect while Gentry and all the others are plan B.
