'15 TN ATH Jauan Jennings (UT commit 4/7/14)

How is he any different from Stephen Griffin?

Serious Question.

Griffin seems to be happy being a S in college. Jennings has been quoted as saying he wants a shot at QB w/e he signs.

Really comes down to the staffs and how they see him IMO. You can sign him as a QB and if it does not work out try to move him to S. That may cause him to look for a transfer. Just have to see how it plays out. Having Griffin on board does not impact Jennings early on at all IMO.

DTO told us a couple weeks ago that he was told he would have a shot at QB. At the time, my son hadn't heard that. JJ told him recently CBJ told him he would get that chance.

DTO was right on the money.

I think this is factoring in.

Was supposed to visit Auburn this weekend but he was tryin not to go. But I think it's 50/50 with Tennessee and Auburn. Good chance he goes Tennessee's way

You and Volatil need to come in clutch until his decision :)

Maybe Gibson visiting au and moving his decision up plays into Jennings making a move as well. I don't think Jennings ends up at QB at UT, but if he likes being a Vol enough to move to S in a couple years he could prove to be a great pick up.

I have probably said more than I should. I really hope we get this kid. He is not only a great athlete but seems to be a good kid. He has fun.

Wow didn't even realize he was that high on us but then again didnt know who he was high on based on low key recruitment. Very nice win if he becomes a Vol. it never hurts to give him a shot at QB then if it doesn't work out he can play wherever

Has he even visited bama? Looking at his 247 timeline, it shows bama offered him in January and no visit there as of yet.

Tells me if they take Jennings they'll let him try QB first.

This is all I could think of.

Should be interesting to see:
a) Whether he commits to us.
b) How he does at QB this year.
c) Whether we continue to pursue Griffin.

I think it's a given that we pursue other QBs, but I'm not sure I agree with the other poster that we take 2 safeties.

Did you mean Gibson? Griffin is a commit and we won't drop him

I agree I don't think we take (2) S's in this class. IMO Griffin is that guy. It may not be ideal at all, but maybe with the Gentry/tx news the UT coaches figure take Jennings at QB and hopefully he can develop over the next couple years. If not, he is QB depth and possibly landing Austin Kendall for 2016 would solidify the position going forward.

He really doesn't like the whole recruiting process that's why he is committing early. So look for him to stick with this decision.

No, I meant Griffin.

Like Ron, I assume Jennings is being recruited at QB but I have no idea if that will still be the case next January.

I liked Griffin's film a lot, he looks like a really good safety to my completely untrained eye, I just don't think we're taking two safeties in this class.

Just saying it'll be interesting to see if anything changes with those two players between now and NSD.
