Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

We have 2 inches of snow !!! Wow , glad it was not more. I like J-rich's game. He has had a nice run in the tourney. However I would think he has to be more consistent next year to get drafted in the first 2 rounds. His defense is usually pretty solid. If he continues to grow on offense he could make quite the impact next season.

He's the third scoring option, at best, on this team. Next year, he becomes the #1 or #1a scoring option. I think you'll see that consistency come out of necessity.

Did you guys read where Cuban said the NFL is going to collapse in 10 years because of oversaturation? I think he's correct with all this.

Cincinnati is to chili like Memphis is to barbeque or Philly is to cheese steaks. There are many styles to suit your dining pleasure. They all lead to the library.

I agree as well. It's already happening. Oversaturation and safety concerns are the biggies IMO. Soccer is ruling in many parts of the country. You lose the young folks, the sport starts well into decline before the money guys realize. He's giving them a wake-up call they will choose to ignore.

The smart owners will keep Cuban in mind over the next while to judge. Dan Snyder and guys like him will be slaughtered. I wish the feds would make them pay taxes.
I personally lost interest in the NFL due to the flags, canned atmosphere, over advertising, and over saturation.
Makes me think of Baseketball.

safety i would give you as a concern but oversaturation - common

everything they put on kills it in ratings - even the NFL draft does better than another sports normal games and is increasing in popularity

ESPN

NFL is also 34 of the 35 most watched programs in the past year - NFL 2013 TV Recap: 205 Million Fans Tuned In; 34 of 35 Most Watched Shows This Fall - Ratings | TVbytheNumbers

i am just not sure what writing on the wall you are seeing

I don't think that expresses real viewership at all. How do they actually know?
The NFL has 11 minutes of action with atleast 100 commercials. With lives becoming busier, people won't tolerate it. Attendance has been dropping every year, and It has little to do with the economy. Stadiums were packed in the 70s.

This is very relevant to the future of the vols.

What does oversaturation mean in this context?

On TV too much. They were talking about this some on Mike & Mike this morning. You can get football on TV 7 days a week now. I agree with the points Mike & Mike were making though. Football has yet to peak (TV wise), when it does peak, they will find ways to scale it back before it "implodes."

All I have heard about is Skyline chili so I broke down and bought a chili dog at a Reds game. Took one bite and threw it in the the trash.

Cuban is probably starting a new league.

Football practice starts Thursday I think.

It's snowing in Murfreesboro (flurries).

LOL @ apology threads.

Pearl has been known to make bad choices.

Leave anything out?

Go Vols

Volatil Jr out practicing his snow kicks for when Neyland has an October snowpocalypse and he needs to nail a 40 yard game winner against Bama?

I would have been nauseated at a Reds game as well

What is this Cincinnati style chilli you all speak of? I googled it, and it looks like spaghetti sauce and noodles, loaded up with cheese. My taste buds are somewhat intrigued.... :detective:

My version is probably hot true authentic. It is basically a really simplified chili served over pasta with tons of cheddar and sour cream

1 pound beef
1 chopped onion
1 TBS chili powder
2 cans kidney beans, drained
2 cans diced tomatoes
1 tsp salt, or to taste

Simple, but good. A nice taste of home, just had it last week

By all measurable parameters, viewership is at an all time high for the NFL. The TV product has improved so dramatically with HD tv, the illustrations, commentary, instant replay from multiple angles, the yellow first down line, updates and replays of other games being played at the same time, that it is eclipsing the in game experience. Especially considering the price of a game ticket, concessions, parking, etc. Their biggest challenge is getting people to come to the games at the stadiums as opposed to watching it on their 60 inch HD tv for free.

No beans. Add garlic. Boom. I prefer my chili Texas style.
