I will speak for my own doubting. This run is great and I'm all happy for it, but as I posted elsewhere, it's not about this one year. It's about the consistency of the body of work. With two talented seniors and another talented big man, this was a year primed for Tennessee and they barely, _barely_ made it in. Barely. And then they almost lost to Iowa. Then they got a good break playing UMass (not the strongest 6 out there), and another break when Mercer beat Duke and also lost a starter. But that takes nothing away from the run, either. This is turning into a good postseason and I put that as a plus in Martin's column. But. BUT. What will happen next year when Maymon and McRae are gone? That's what I want to see. As I posted elsewhere, I think UT is too good a program to be going to the NCAA tournament once every 4 years. We've already whiffed years 1 and 2, and this year was supposed to be a great year for UT before they almost collapsed (but didn't - again, props to them for that run). But next year, when the last of "that guy's" recruits are gone, will UT still be competitive? Has UT done enough recruiting to field a good team next year and beyond? As I said, it's about consistency. That guy we don't talk about anymore went six years in a row. Every year. I think, with the facilities and money and passion UT has for basketball, they should be going dancing more often than they're not going dancing. So, next year is what I want to see. Will we be 2-2 on invites, or will we be 1-3? And is once every four years good enough? I don't think that it is. Not for UT.
