Does this make up for a disappointing season?

Yes. I wasnt a staunch CCM doubter but had come to believe he wasnt right guy. Fans who thought that were justified at the time. Some took it way to far with their Pearl worship. So happy I was wrong about CCM. I am all in.

Well I have no problems admitting I was wrong in my assumption of this team and the coaches ability to succeed this season. And for signing the petition. I like my crow to be well done but not burnt. GO VOLS!

Great last five days! Happy for the team and the coaching staff. Yes, I'd say it makes up for some earlier disappointments for me.

Hope the team remains hungry and aggressive and plays up to their abilities next week.

Go Vols!

Absolutely changed my view. I will eat the crow. I was a Pearlite, but I really think the game plan has changed drastically from earlier. We are going inside first, whereas before we were just the opposite.

A lot has also changed with the continued development of Josh and the smarter play recently of Maymon. Maymon and Stokes are playing much better together and McRae has reeled in his selfishness in the past -3 weeks. JMO!!

Regardless of what happens from here on out, Martin has met and exceeded my expectations for this year. I admit, I was pretty vocal about the economic benefit of trading Martin (who I really liked as a man but doubted as a coach) for Pearl (even if that was totally unrealistic, it made sense to me). I only wanted Martin gone if the trade-off was for Pearl. That last sentence, in my eyes, is an important distinction.

Now, I am glad that Pearl is at Auburn and I no longer have to contemplate that as an option, and similarly that Martin is showing that his stellar character translates to dominating wins on the court when it matters.

I'm sold on Martin and believe his contract should be raised and extended. And, I stand hat-in-hand asking to be forgiven for my doubt.

Perhaps fortune is beginning to smile on the Orange faithful again...

The season is all about the tournament. We are still playing. We have had a better season than Duke, Kansas, Syracuse, and North Carolina because they are going home and we are moving on.

I will speak for my own doubting. This run is great and I'm all happy for it, but as I posted elsewhere, it's not about this one year. It's about the consistency of the body of work. With two talented seniors and another talented big man, this was a year primed for Tennessee and they barely, _barely_ made it in. Barely. And then they almost lost to Iowa. Then they got a good break playing UMass (not the strongest 6 out there), and another break when Mercer beat Duke and also lost a starter. But that takes nothing away from the run, either. This is turning into a good postseason and I put that as a plus in Martin's column. But. BUT. What will happen next year when Maymon and McRae are gone? That's what I want to see. As I posted elsewhere, I think UT is too good a program to be going to the NCAA tournament once every 4 years. We've already whiffed years 1 and 2, and this year was supposed to be a great year for UT before they almost collapsed (but didn't - again, props to them for that run). But next year, when the last of "that guy's" recruits are gone, will UT still be competitive? Has UT done enough recruiting to field a good team next year and beyond? As I said, it's about consistency. That guy we don't talk about anymore went six years in a row. Every year. I think, with the facilities and money and passion UT has for basketball, they should be going dancing more often than they're not going dancing. So, next year is what I want to see. Will we be 2-2 on invites, or will we be 1-3? And is once every four years good enough? I don't think that it is. Not for UT.

I'll take postseason success over winning the SEC and bouncing out in the first round, any day. I was a serious doubter in Martin but my opinion is starting to change.

LSU and Ga used to have coaches who suked during the regular season when LSU had Chris Jackson and Shack and GA had Wilkens and Fair but they always finally showed up in March. I guess that's what Martin will be. Better than Mears who never won a tournament game IMO.

I am still a big Pearl fan, but I have no problem acknowledging that CCM can get it done here at UT. I'm going to enjoy the ride this year and worry about next year, well, next year.

Bruce is coach of the Auburn Tigers so why is he even being mentioned any further on this board? All of the Pearl discussion is now irrelevant. We should just be concerned about supporting this team and our coach (and perhaps worry about keeping this coach!).

Really had my doubts early on as to how many games this team would win. Had no doubt we had the talent on the court, just wasn't sure where this was going under CCM. Thought we had to wait and see if we got to the tourney and how we did before talking about a coaching change. Good job closing strong in the regular season and you can't ask for much more than getting this team in the Sweet 16. Far exceeded my expectations...didn't think there was a chance this team could pull this off. Nice job. Go Vols.

I just wish our fanbase would learn to wait until opportunity for success has passed before crucifying coaches. We need to let things play out more before throwing in the towel. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. Either way, waiting longer would make us look less foolish, and, more importantly, it would put our coaches in less difficult situations.
