in Tennessee Vols Football Recruiting

Tennessee fans were welcomed to some great news yesterday. At a small conference in his hometown of Athens, GA, Alan Posey declared his college decision. In recent weeks he’s been down to Clemson and Tennessee. It was on this date, the date of his late grandfather’s passing, that he declared his commitment to Tennessee. Alan is an elite offensive lineman at Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley’s high school alma mater. Alan was ready to make his decision and close his recruiting minus an official visit to his committed school in the future. Volnation caught up with him to get the final details on the big day.

“I’m just so excited to be done with recruiting and part of the Vol family. A good offensive line coach was a requirement in a school and I found one. I like the campus and the program.”

Although his commitment was made public yesterday, his decision had been done for quite some time.

“I committed just after the spring game. I have been recruiting other kids until now. I have been talking to (Isaac) Luatua, Antonio (Richardson), Justin (Worley), and Kyler (Kerbyson).”

Alan has his final visit planned down to the date.

“I am taking no official visits except for one to Tennessee. I will be out there to watch them take on Oregon.”

Is there an early graduation in the works for Alan?

“I can graduate early if I pass all my classes this year and all of my core classes next year. That’s the plan for now. I just can’t wait to step foot on campus and be a Vol.”

Welcome to Big Orange Country, Alan. I’m as optomistic as you are to see you on the field as a Vol. Hopefully you will be a part of our next SEC Championship! I know that may be stretching things a bit but it’s definitely within the grasp of a good Vol team, so again, good luck and welcome to Vol country.
