Tennessee starting offensive guard Marcus Jackson has a torn bicep and may be out for the year, Butch Jones confirmed today.

“Marcus, there’s no timetable set,” Jones said after Tuesday morning’s practice. “It could be the season. It could be eight months. It could be nine months. It’s really based on how his surgery comes and how his body performs.”

Fellow lineman Jashon Robertson has asked to wear Jackson’s No. 75 jersey this season.

“You talk about unselfishness,” Jones said. “Jashon Robertson came and he wants to wear 75. That’s the type of culture that’s built here. That’s how our players are starting to think.”

Jackson started 12 games for Tennessee last season.
