Last night, Peyton Manning, who has proven time and again he’s always good for a laugh, appeared on the final episode of David Letterman’s Late Show.

Some of Letterman’s favorite past guests came on the show to take part in the last-ever Top 10 List: “The Top 10 Things I Always Wanted to Say to Dave.”

At No. 3 on the list, Manning said, “You are to comedy, what I am to… comedy.”

Manning felt it was important to honor the Late Show‘s final episode. Letterman is from Indianapolis and the two became close during Manning’s days with the Colts.

Letterman is retiring after 33 years on late night television.
