He rushed for 2002 yards and 19 TD's his senior season in 2004 while racking up 19 TD's. Montario was the Offensive MVP of the 2004 Shrine Bowl.

Rivals rates Hardesty as the #9 overall athlete in the nation and #8 overall in the state of North Carolina . He was a Prep-Star All-American in 2004. He is also a very talented cornerback as well. Scout has him ranked as the #17 cornerback in the country. He was also an outstanding defensive back. Tom Lemming rated him as the #19 running back in the nation.

Hardesty had verbally committed to play his college football with the North Carolina Tarheels after visiting Tennessee but changed his mind in the last few days before signing day.

Hardesty ran both the 100M and the 200M in high school. With his combination of size and speed he could see some action as a freshman.
