Vols move into first place tie in the SEC

Tennessee took care of its business on Tuesday night, beating Mississippi State on the road, but Auburn couldn’t do the same in Fayetteville.

The Tigers lost at Arkansas by a score of 91-82, which means the Vols and Tigers are now tied for first place in the Southeastern Conference regular season standings.

Tennessee concludes its season on Saturday in Knoxville against Georgia, while Auburn closes out its season at home against South Carolina.

Auburn won the regular season matchup over the Vols on January 2nd, which means the Tigers will earn the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament, should the teams finish with identical league records. There is no tiebreaker for the regular season conference championship race, however, so Auburn and Tennessee could conceivably share the title.
