FreakNotes: Florida week; Odds; Starting QB; Rankings; Injury Update

  • I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was fantastic! I really enjoyed watching the Vols have an easy game this week, as opposed to last weekend’s overtime war. Overall I thought Tennessee’s 42-7 romp of the Sycamores was a solid performance, and I liked seeing a lot of our young guys get playing time. Share your overall thoughts on the game in the comments below. I’d love to read them.
  • OT: I hope all you Vol fans in Florida are safe. I have friends and family in Florida so I’ve been personally affected by the concern for loved ones this week. It seems as though the storm wasn’t nearly as bad as many feared but I know there’s still a lot of damage and widespread power loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
  • It’s officially Florida week! Assuming the game doesn’t get moved or cancelled. This article says power restoration in Gainesville could take two weeks or more. Butch said today in his press conference, however, that he fully expects to play in Gainesville.
  • According to scoresandodds.com, the Gators are five-point favorites over the Vols. Oddsshark predicts a score of 22-14, Tennessee.
  • The nine suspended Florida players will remain suspended until the credit card caper has been resolved, according to Jimmy Hyams.
  • It appears as though Quinten Dormady is now officially listed as the starting quarterback for the game against Florida. No more co-starters at that position.
  • I posted the full game video for the Indiana State game and I hope to have the offensive play by play posted within the next 24 hours.
  • OMG is back on schedule this week with his latest maxims post. Definitely read it. It’s worth your time. — Tennessee vs The Maxims vs Indiana State
  • Tennessee is ranked No. 23 in both the Amway Coaches Poll and the AP Poll.
  • Former Vol basketballer Tobias Harris was in the house for the game over the weekend. Cool t-shrit. Casey Clausen was there too.
  • Did you know Jason Witten became the Cowboys all-time leader in receiving yards last night?
  • Ty Chandler was named SEC Freshman of the Week.

  • Butch said in his press conference today that Josh Smith will be available for Florida. Tyler Byrd and Latrell Williams are also back. Eli Wolf is questionable, as are Marcus Tatum, Evan Berry and Austin Smith.
  • Tennessee’s game with UMass has been announced as a noon kickoff.

  1. I told my wife that I was going to enjoy this game if it went reasonably well, because there was less on the line. It was just a chance to sit back and enjoy seeing how some of the younger and less experienced guys were doing.

I think we have a real advantage over Florida for having this game, and their game being cancelled. I am not going to go feeling sorry for the Gators though. No time for that.

If our Defense can get it’s act together, I think we can take it one game at a time, and end up having a really good season. We have a long way to go to be world beaters, but we do have some pieces of the puzzle. We just need to put it all together – one game at a time.

    • With everything the Florida players have been through this week and the suspensions, we should definitely have an advantage. But it sure is hard to win in Gainesville.

I’m with you on the defense. Shoop better have his act together this week. I’m confident he will.

      Thanks for the comment i2amavol.

  2. Do you think they’ll play this week?I kinda doubt it but hope they do.

  3. If this pic doesn’t prove Jumper is slow than I don’t know what will?
