Tennessee Vols Football News

September 1, Friday

  • Happy Friday, everyone. Only three more days until kickoff! We made it through another week, the last week without Tennessee Football. Hopefully most of you guys have a three-day weekend upcoming. Did you wear your orange today? Let me know in the comments below.

  • Dobbs went on to score the winning touchdown with his legs, running one in from the one yard line with two seconds left on the clock.

  • It appears as though Tennessee picked up a new baseball commit from Sevier County catcher/pitcher Noah Webb.
  • Former Tennessee offensive coordinator Mike DeBord did a nice job to give Indiana the early lead against Ohio State last night. Kirk Herbstreit talked about just how fast the DeBord offense is, calling it the fastest tempo in the last seven or eight years of college football. Talk about someone who caught a ton of flack at Tennessee for no reason. The Vols will do well this year to get anywhere near the offensive numbers the ‘swim coach’ put up the last two seasons.
  • Check out this incredible catch and run by Farragut Admiral and Tennessee commit Jacob Warren. Vol quarterback commit Adrian Martinez was impressed. “My future TE is a playmaker,” he tweeted. — Player thread: ’18 TN TE Jacob Warren (UT Commit 5/24/17)

  • Here are a few clips of Michael Penix, the other Tennessee quarterback commit, that you might want to check out.
  • Big Al in the house! Al Wilson and Calvin Johnson have been named honorary captains for Monday’s Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game.
  • After Wednesday’s knee surgery, Tennessee learned that Darrin Kirkland Jr. will miss the entire 2017 season. “We can’t dwell on DK not being there,” defensive coordinator Bob Shoop said yesterday. “I feel worse for him than for anything else. Here’s a guy who has worked really hard. He came back for the bowl game and played well. He had a good offseason and put himself in position to take the next step as a player. Injuries are part of it. We have dealt with it before.” Butch Jones confirmed during his noon press conference today.
  • Check out these highlights from Tennessee commit Shocky Jacques-Louis.

    • Glad to hear it, Yuma. I was starting to wonder whether anyone was actually decked out in full orange gear today.

      Thanks for the comment.

  1. Yes. I stayed up all night last night, doing paperwork, with my TENNESSEE FOOTBALL t-shirt on. Then, went at 6:45 this morning and played some bball. Went 3-1 in pickup games…Lucky t-shirt did the job.

    • You better be wearing that shirt on Monday, then, i2amavol. We need to be sure luck is on our side. lol.

      Thanks for the comment.
