| The quality of food vendors is up on the strip with Jason's Deli and Mellow Mushroom. The bars where always dirt holes, and likely always will be. I break out in a rash when I even think about the Tap Room. They had this big makeover planned for Cumberland, but nothing ever happened. |

The issue that BWW had was that the chain is requiring all of its franchises to upgrade to a certain model, and the footprint that the location sat on could not support what needed to be done without completely tearing it down and starting over, and the landlord was unable to put that together.
The building itself has some serious issues and will likely have to be demolished before a new tenant builds there. | Nice update, thanks. I was just repeating what I had been told by business close by. I hope they do tear that place down and build something a little more "Tennesseeish". The building sucks. |

The strip is just a **** stain on Knoxville | Wow, way to be a "negastripper"! I for one am not happy with the direction that the strip has gone but I'm not going to walk all the way from downtown after having the requisite pre-game brew quantity. If you want to walk that far go ahead, I actually like going to all of the haunts that are left like Stefanos and Copper Cellar and some of the new ones mentioned here. My wife and I still go to the strip regularly for Stefanos. Love hearing the Big Orange Banditos too! I will continue to support the strip (like the Vols) and hope for the best. |

On gamedays, pretty much everyone I know (mostly 28-32 year old) parks and goes straight to the tailgate. We avoid the strip like the plague.

| I saw the city had plans to give the whole strip area a much needed facelift, but havent heard anything about it recently.
Does anyone have any info? |

| I used to go to the strip a lot in the late '80s and early '90s. There was Ruby's, O'Charley's, Ivy's, Hawkeye's Corner, The Library, OCI, The Last Lap, and so on. Now I only go to get Stefano's Pizza occasionally, and take-out at that. It's mostly rednecks and panhandlers now. I have no knowledge at all of the newer places.
I agree with some of the previous posters; go downtown. There is Marble City's new brewpub, The Quarry, and many other good places.
On gamedays, I park downtown, drink beer at Downtown Grill and Brewery, then ride the Trolley to the University Center; that way, I don't lose my buzz walking there. |
