I'm an LSU student and am new to this board. I was wondering if anyone on here could give me some advice/information here. LSU's fall break coincides with the Tennessee game, which is at Neyland this year. We are going to have the Thursday and Friday off before the game, and plan on driving up to Tennessee on that particular Wednesday. I've been to the national park a couple of times as a kid and want to bring about 8 friends up there on a roadtrip. It is also my understanding that this will be an extremely busy time of year as far as tourism/traffic goes.

We probably plan on staying in a cabin in the Gatlinburg area. I've done a good bit of research on cabins and have discovered that they only take 21 or 25 + yr olds for most cabin reservations, which is a problem because we are all 19-20. I'm looking around on vrbo.com so I can find individual owners that may take us, but haven't gotten too many responses yet. Our trip will mostly consist of hanging out in the park on Thursday and Friday and just barbecuing/playing some acoustic guitar when we are at the cabin. I was talking to a Tennessee fan on Tigerdroppings, and he told me that parking is almost nonexistent on campus, so I'm guessing taking the shuttles I see listed in one of the other threads would be our best bet. If anyone has any information, particularly about cabins, but also about anything at all to make the trip happen, I'd appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance for any responses that can help us out here.

Thanks for the response. I've been to that site and haven't had much luck, especially with looking for something in our price range. We are trying vrbo.com and I'm starting to get some email responses from several of the owners. Some just require that you have someone over the age of 21 to just sign for the responsibility and liability, so we can get a parent to assume that legal liability, it seems.

I've had experiences in the past with my fraternity where we rented a beachouse in AL and got killed on "damages" to the unit. This group I'm bringing is made up of some old HS friends, and it will be much smaller and much more tame. As I alluded to in the OP, we probably plan on just sitting around and picking some acoustic guitar and producing some solid barbecue on the grill. We rented a cabin in a state park in LA earlier this year with a similar setup with no problems at all.

I guess now my question has to do with suggestions on what area to stay in order to avoid the insane traffic, and also tips for getting to the game and everything. Also, what are some of the less "touristy" areas of the park we can check out?

Stay in pigeon forge on the main scrip, eat at the seafood buffets and give yourself about an extra 15 minutes to get to the game.

I'd rather not put that on here, is there a way I can PM you?

Never mind, just figured it out and sent the name of my fraternity in a PM.
