The Oakland A's- MLB's ACTUAL AAA team

John Fisher’s estimated net worth in 2015 is $2.4B but my man can’t afford a $100M payroll

I’m over it. If they move to Vegas, I’m totally over it. Don’t know what I’ll watch after college baseball ends

Saw that this morning. They are really moving at a rapid pace. They could have something done by 2072.
The mayor is out in November (term limits). If it’s not finalized by then, things could get murky as far as support goes

I guess they’ll be the Las Vegas Athletics now?

Edit: Would this move mean more and more of the Athletics fanbase in Oakland are going to become Giants fans over time?

I would think you'll see a lot of that. I have a family member that grew up in Oakland when the Raiders had moved to LA. He started following the 49ers and even when the Raiders moved back, stayed a 49ers fan. He is still a A's fan, but I assume he'll lose interest when they move. I believe that this is a smart move for the A's. Oakland has totally mismanaged the entire situation and they'll have a brand new stadium and tons of fan support from the Vegas area. Plus, Vegas knows that this will further drive visiting fans to their city to watch them play the A's and spend money at the casinos.

What's more boring watching a baseball game or sitting mindlessly at a slot machine ?

Context makes it seem as of you’re referencing the city, not the team mismanaging things

Oakland stood up to being bullied by sports owners for once and they got kicked in the ****ing mouth. You could not pick two worse owners for the Raiders/A’s situations to deal with. One is a legacy owner who only makes money from the team. The other owner buys it for the tax break/profit margin and doesn’t care. And then the Warriors get good after Oakland supported them for 40 years while they sucked and they moved to San Fran the first chance they can. It absolutely sucks.

I don’t know enough about the details of the Warriors’ efforts for their new stadium. I followed the A’s efforts closer than just about anyone east of the Rockies. Fisher promised the city the world, then backtracked and started asking for everything instead. The Howard site would’ve been fantastic, but putting the onus on the city for all the infrastructure it would’ve required, and then asking for more is just absurd.

It’s weird that Davis is being critical of the A’s. He’s not wrong, but it’s not much different than what he did

Yes, the fist thing I thought when reading articles about Davis' response was pot meet kettle.
