Russia brings the fight to ISIS in Syria!!!

Nearly 100 Killed in Bombardment of Hard-Hit Suburb of Syrian Capital - WSJ

Syrian regime forces backed by Russian warplanes intensified attacks on a suburb of the capital, killing nearly 100 people including women and children on Monday, according to several activist and medical groups, amid a campaign to retake remaining rebel-held areas.

The airstrikes hit five hospitals, putting them out of service and further incapacitating local doctors trying to treat the scores of wounded, said the Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations, a France-based charity that supports local medical care.

The Damascus suburbs of eastern Ghouta have been under assault for months, but Monday’s toll appeared to be one of the area’s highest in years. Civilians inside Ghouta have sent public appeals via social media, fearing an impending air and ground assault.

A Russian oligarch believed to control the Russian mercenaries who attacked U.S. troops and their allies in Syria this month was in close touch with Kremlin and Syrian officials in the days and weeks before and after the assault, according to U.S. intelligence reports.

In intercepted communications in late January, the oligarch, Yevgeniy Prigozhin, told a senior Syrian official that he had “secured permission” from an unspecified Russian minister to move forward with a “fast and strong” initiative that would take place in early February.

Prigozhin made front-page headlines last week when he was indicted by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III on charges of bankrolling and guiding a long-running Russian scheme to conduct “information warfare” during the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign.

Dems don't want Russia's help, despite how much it might help us.

Russia is wanting our help. WTF are you reading?

The proposal was sent in a July 19 letter by Valery Gerasimov, the chief of the Russian military’s General Staff, to U.S. Marine General Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, according to the memo which was seen by Reuters.

The Russian plan, which has not been previously reported, has received an icy reception in Washington. The memo said the U.S. policy was only to support such efforts if there were a political solution to end Syria’s seven-year-old civil war, including steps like U.N.-supervised elections.

The proposal illustrates how Russia, having helped turn the tide of the war in favor of President Bashar al-Assad, is now pressing Washington and others to aid the reconstruction of areas under his control. Such an effort would likely further cement Assad’s hold on power.

THE DEMS, THE DEMS. Get a new line matt.

Or we could just stay the **** out of it like we should have from the start...

That's always a good option.

An American couple decided to bicycle around the world in an attempt to prove evil does not exist. They chose to bicycle through ISIS territory and ISIS killed them.

Jay Austin and Lauren Geoghegan left their D.C. government jobs nearly two years ago to embark on a worldwide bike tour. The wide-eyed, optimistic couple kept track of their trips on a website where they posted stunning photos of their travels and whimsical musings on evil, the media and the goodness of people.

The couple chose to bike through the Muslim country of Tajikistan with another group of cyclists. They met a gruesome fate when confronted by five members of ISIS.

TRUMP CANCELS $200 MILLION IN SYRIA ‘STABILIZATION’ FUNDS

President Donald Trump will cancel $200 million worth of foreign aid that had been set aside for “stabilization” projects in Syria, a significant step towards reducing Washington’s involvement in the conflict there.

The White House is set to notify lawmakers Friday of the decision to withhold the funding and spend it elsewhere, the Associated Press reported, citing administration officials familiar with the move.

The $200 million in recovery aid was first pledged by then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson at a February meeting of the US.-led coalition to defeat ISIS. But just weeks later, the White House ordered the State Department to delay the funds pending the outcome of a spending review.

The cancellation of stabilization funding is in line with Trump’s inclination to avoid a leading role in the Syrian war. While he has stopped short of withdrawing the roughly 2,000 U.S. troops deployed to Syria, he has repeatedly signaled a desire to let other governments take the lead in post-war reconstruction. Tajikistan is ISIS territory and nor were they killed by members of ISIS just because ISIS claimed to have done it doesn't mean they did it.

And we can't have that... The US would rather hold a people hostage to further their/Israel's political aims in Syria rather than rebuild what they have destroyed.

no. you established that logic when we were giving Ukraine missile defense systems.

Really?! We were arming them with anti-tank missiles, not one of the best anti-aircraft systems in the world...but okay, I see your point...

Another point...seems that things have calmed down in Ukraine. Maybe now things will get calmer in Syria too..
