A Republican state representative in Michigan, Rep. Matt Maddock, claimed on social media on Wednesday night that he had photo evidence of “illegal invaders” arriving at Detroit Metro Airport.

One of the two photos Maddock posted on the platform called X, formerly known as Twitter, showed an Allegiant Air plane. The other photo showed three buses. Maddock wrote: “Happening right now. Three busses just loaded up with illegal invaders at Detroit Metro. Anyone have any idea where they’re headed with their police escort?”

It was Gonzaga’s March Madness team.

Hundreds of social media users quickly disputed Maddock’s post on Wednesday, but Maddock refused to concede. He replied to one of the many people who pointed out the plane and buses were likely for NCAA basketball teams: “Sure kommie. Good talking point.”

Maddock continued to dig in on Thursday morning. He wrote a new post saying, “We know this is happening” and that hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants are “pouring into our country.” He added: “Since we can’t trust the #FakeNews to investigate, citizens will. The process of investigating these issues takes time.”

Wow. Just wow.

GOP is redefining the depths of insanity.

Thanks, Donald.

Ever hear the joke about the insane running the asylum?
I'm troubled by the pervasive hate and fear of immigrants. Maybe it's always been this way, just now these idiots feel unencumbered about showing their ass in public. If the dude had one shred of decency in him, he'd at least apologize to these college kids for his error.

And he'd also delete the stupid, incorrect tweet.

Politicians have no shame or decency.

I don’t think it fear and hatred, at least not on a large scale. It’s more about security in knowing exactly who is coming in, which we should, and also the stress it can place on towns and municipalities. Not sure how many of these immigrants even arriving with proper paper work, if any. Any hardworking person looking to make a better life, come on. Just want them to go through the normal immigration process. But that GOP dimwit should apologize.

When the NYC mayor speaks about the problem of illegal immigration, do you believe he does so based on hate and fear?

Or is it ignorant to blame this on hate and fear

I’m glad the article cleared up that X is the name of the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

It’s been such a source of confusion for me since Elon bought the joint.

Now THATS funny. I mean I can see his error. Those type of operations are running all over the country to move illegals in the dead of night at small airports.

But just because that is true doesn’t mean you don’t have to actually LOOK at the photos you take and do a critical analysis before you make accusations.

Too many are quick to deny reality and others are too quick to project their model on the world.
