I see many similarities between the Gators hiring of Muschamp and our hiring of Pruitt. Neither one had ever been a head coach at any level and cut their teeth as DB coaches. Both were DCs at three big time schools where they had top defenses.

I think Muschamp wasnt ready for such a big time program but learned a lot from his time at Florida and has used it to his advantage at South Carolina. I am hoping that Pruitts time at Tennessee doesnt result in a similar situation where he learns on the job here and then excels at Ole Miss or something.

Comparison is the thief of joy.

If that’s the case in a few years we may as well take another chance on CLK 🤪

I dont think Butch left the horses for that kind of success.
Rationally, I look at our talent rankings, especially vs other mid-lower level SEC counterparts, and think we should be able to compete. It's not like our coaches don't have experience...actually pretty good experience. I'm starting to think that CBJ profile went off rating potential, and were coddled before and when they got on campus. You've heard recruits who commit to UT talk about how Pruitt doesn't sugar coat things w/ them...similar to Barnes. That's about all I can come up with why we're so dysfunctional. Things get rough and we don't have players who have mental toughness to fight thru it, even if we're out matched physically.

That being said, everyone knows we're extremely flawed on OL, so you'd think we'd try some things alleviate the pressure.

Right now it is a wait and see what happens with the offense. If the problem of turnovers and blocking can't be fixed it will certainly expose him as not having what it takes to confront a problem and make it better.

Yeah, if he's another Muschamp we are wildly overachieving at this point...give him a 50-year contract

Muschamp may be an a$$hole, but he can actually coach. And he is undefeated against us. So I would be happy to have Pruitt as our Muschamp.

Muschamp had an 11-2 Sugar bowl winning year there. That would be UT's best since 2001. We can only hope he is our Muschamp.

They lost to Louisville in the Sugar Bowl, but at least they were there. Only losses were to them and UGA. That being said, I'd love to see us back in the Sugar Bowl......any bowl at this point. 11-2 would be fantastic. So yeah, I wish Pruitt could muster some of that Muschamp.

One could make the same argument for Kirby Smart. It all depends on the situation they walk into and Pruitt walked into a s*** show. Kirby had talent soon as he got on campus in Athens. Mushcamp walked into a similar situation, he just meddled in the offense too much, I don't think Pruitt is like that. Not saying that you're wrong but every situation has different circumstances and Pruitt has one of the biggest rebuilds in the country for what he's wanting to do.

When Urban Crier left Florida, their roster was bad. No Tebow, etc. etc
Uh no it wasn't Rainey, Burton, Demps, Brantley just to name a few. Muschamps first year wasn't great because of the coaching change which is normal for everybody not just UT, but year 2 they went 11-2 he didn't play all freshman that second year that team still had players after Urban
