!! HOT RECRUITING NEWS (not just commits)!! (no discussion)

Jason Carr

"I'm ready for signing day," the 6-6, 280 pound Carr said. "I'm done with visits. I was going to visit Ole Miss, but I'm not going to visit anywhere this weekend. I'm ready for it to be over with."

"Coach Jones was by the school this morning and we visited," Carr said. "He and coach Stripling are coming to the house tonight. I'm still committed to Tennessee. Alabama is still recruiting me hard.

"I don't want to pass on the opportunity to play at Tennessee. Alabama is obviously a very good program with good coaches and both schools have equal facilities. Like I said I'm just ready for it be over with. "

Lawson mini update!!! Keeping the faith!!!

http://www.volnation.com/forum/tenn...ga-de-carl-lawson-auburn-331.html#post8175486

Quote:
the battle for no. 1 prospect robert nkemdiche (loganville, ga./grayson) has been well documented, but less than 50 miles away, programs have also been fighting it out for the no. 2 prospect in the country, defensive end carl lawson (alpharetta, ga./milton). Lawson has been committed to auburn since last march, but the tigers are going to have to fend off several programs if they want to hold onto their five-star pass rusher. Carl lawson sr., carl's father, did not accompany lawson on his first official visit to clemson, but he says his son was very fond of brian dawkins' speech during an award ceremony on campus that weekend.

He was able to join carl on his second official visit to tennessee this past weekend.

"the tennessee visit was great and the entire family enjoyed it," lawson sr. Said. "tennessee has a lot of history. A lot of people do not know that peyton manning is carl's all-time favorite player. He prides himself on being peyton manning's biggest fan, so being at tennessee was a big thrill for him."

General update!!!
http://www.volnation.com/forum/tenn...g-forum-football-talk-iv-424.html#post8175740

Poster on VQ asked...

"How many of these recruits do you think ink with UT on Feb. 6th? I won't lock you in by asking for specific names.
Over/Under is set at 3.5 of these 8:

North
Lawson
Green
Bell
Levenberry
Ford
Gibson
Boyd"

"Making it tough. If signing day were tomorrow, I'd say over, but since it's two weeks away I'd have to say under. But, if they close well and keep some momentum they could end up with 4 or 5 of those guys."

Boom on Carr!!!!

http://www.volnation.com/forum/tenn...12-13-tn-de-jason-carr-ut-95.html#post8176013

Quote:
Carr said the visit with Jones and Stripling went well and, despite enjoying a good visit to Alabama over the weekend, he has decided to cancel his visit to Ole Miss this weekend, shut down his recruitment and stick with Tennessee. Carr said he informed Jones and Stripling of his decision tonight during the visit, and they were both excited by the news. Carr said he's planning to make it back to Knoxville this weekend on an unofficial visit just to hang out and help convince five-star safety Vonn Bell, who's one of the Vols' scheduled visitors, to join him at Tennessee.

Update on Derrick Green

Quote:
Wednesday Graham will be with Bajakian in Virginia in to see Derrick Green as the Vols try and make one last push for the No. 1 running back in the country. It is still a mystery as to who Green will choose Saturday when he announces in the late afternoon. Both sides feel good about their chances but Michigan has been the popular pick after Green named the Wolverines the favorites at the beginning of the month.

From Rivals FSU board-

"Then you also have Davin Bellamy, who I said was the biggest concern coming in. I think the main concern is Georgia although Bellamy did have a solid visit to Tennessee. Even with the Georgia Bulldogs I think at the end of the day Jimbo Fisher is the difference maker here. He's been there from the beginning with Davin and that's a big notch for FSU in regards to trust.

There is also some mention of EJ Levenberry, who could take a visit to Tennessee but his heart is with FSU so even if he did take the visit I don't believe he switches or at least I'm not getting the feel he would at this point."- Michael L Rivals.com

Davin Bellamy Update

"Florida State is the place I've wanted to be since March," noted Bellamy. "I fell in love with Coach Fisher. I fell in love with Coach Craig. I'm just not so sure if it's the best place for me anymore. The coaches that wanted me there are no longer there. The new coaches want me, but I'm just not sure if the connection is there that I had with Craig, Coach (Mark) Stoops and Coach (D.J.) Eliot. They came to my games, my practices and to my school and they handpicked me to play for them. I'm just not sure if I'll vibe as well with the new guys there. I have to make the best decision for my career and my future. The only reason I haven't left is because of Coach Fisher. I respect that guy more than anything and he is the reason that I love that school."

Davin Bellamy Update Pt2

This quote says alot:

"“I look at Tennessee and they are now going to run a 4-3 scheme and they think I would be perfect for them,” Bellamy mentioned. “I look at their depth chart and it’s not nearly as strong as it is at Florida State. I have a real good opportunity to get there and start from day one and play major SEC football. The coaches have been pushing for me hard and I just feel like they may want me more than any school coming after me.”"

-247

Seems obvious to me that Butch is doing a good bit of negative recruiting towards FSU. Bellamy says he's been researching the depth chart in Tallahassee and feels like other schools may be better fits for him. He did say that an FSU coach was at his school yesterday and did a pretty good job of answering some concerns for him.

Peyton Barber Update

“I definitely enjoyed my visit,” Barber said. “I enjoyed the coaching staff and everything that they had to offer me. I felt like I will definitely stay in contact with them in the future.”
“I feel like Coach Graham and I have a pretty good relationship,” he said.

“I am still committed to Ole Miss, but I am definitely still looking around to make sure that I am making the right decision “I will probably make my final decision on signing day.”

247 writer predicts Lawson to UT.
Carl Lawson, WDE, Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton

The prospect – No. 24 in the Top247
The scoop - While the 6-foot-2, 245-pound Lawson remains a “soft” commitment to Auburn, his recruitment is far from a certainty. Last weekend, the Atlanta area prospect visited Tennessee a week after tripping to Clemson. This weekend, the edge rush prospect will travel to Chapel Hill to take a closer look at North Carolina before making a final visit to Auburn the weekend of Feb. 1. Prediction – Tennessee

Bellamy/Lawson Updates from Uzzi/Holder

FSU Mod at 247: "Btw, not only do I think Tennessee is in good shape with Bellamy, but I'm hearing similar things on Carl Lawson."
http://www.volnation.com/forum/tennessee-vols-recruiting/154258-13-ga-de-carl-lawson-auburn-104.html#post8179528

"He will visit AU, but he is a smart kid and won't make any emotion based decisions.
UT is the leader and there are many things pointing towards UT."

- Uzzi

"I believe Bellamy or an FSU assistant coach is the FSU Mod's source.

I don't know what Carl is waiting on, but Bellamy may be waiting on Carl."

"Lawson hosted Auburn assistant coach Rodney Garner for an in-school visit Thursday.

"It went well. They had a good conversation," Carl Lawson Sr. said. "We're just trying to get to know each other and we're both putting a lot of effort into it. It definitely is going well. We're getting to know him and learn about him and he's getting to know us. "Both sides are getting a feel for each other."

Lawson and his family have officially visited Clemson and Tennessee on back-to-back weekends. Of the two, Lawson Sr. said Tennessee stood out the most.

"The family was real impressed with Tennessee," he said. "The new facilities are definitely mind-boggling. Very nice."

Lawson Sr. said a final decision will likely come shortly after his visit to Auburn and before Signing Day. "We don't want to put anybody in a rough position," he said.
