Leadership.

We haven’t had a true leader as a coach since Fulmer. Pruitt may be that guy, I don’t know yet, but when there’s a void of leadership in anything there’s a lack of production in everything. We saw first hand last night that we don’t have a single leader on the field. No one willing to call out a teammate, no one willing to gather everyone on the sideline and no one willing to leave it on the field. (I believe a lot of it is because of this “snowflake” generation but I’ll leave that for the political forum.) The one exception may be Jeremy Banks.
I believe Pruitt was and will continue to take chances to prove to the kids he will believe in them if they will believe in him. He’s going to work like heck (yeah, I said it) to break the old way of thinking and implement the maxim mentality into the soul of those kids. We may see more attrition this off season than last which wouldn’t be a bad thing. I’m giving CJP this season and even next to burn away the chaff, plant seeds and then harvest HIS type of players. Like him or not, what he says, how he recruits and the type of ball he wants to play is the closest thing we seen since Fulmer and even Kiffin. Patience isn’t a virtue we all have but it’s what will be required to rid that locker room of the stinch of the past 2 coaches.

WE NEED MORE JAUAN JENNINGS FIGHT OUT OF THIS OFFENSE PERIOD...HE FIGHTS LIKE A MAN POSSESSED!!!

Plays were there...even after the easy 14 points in the 1st. Dropped 4th down pass hit Woods-Anderson in the hands, fumble a TD out the end zone by Pope, Guarantano goes out from another cheap shot yet again no call by refs then Chryst fumbles a snap, onside kick 5 Vols on 1 Gator don’t recover it, & fumble 2nd half opening kick off. Ballsy calls in a game you’re supposed to lose anyway...he was sending a message to the players he believes in them and they can make it happen....HE IS TRYING TO MAKE THEM DO IT ON THE FIELD....GOTTA EXECUTE AND MAKE PLAYS BOTTOM LINE!!!

...AND ON OFFENSE IF IT IS 3rd or 4th and 3+ yds HE SHOULD BE THE DAMN TARGET!!!!

Let's all get over that Fulmer leadership crap. Anyone could have won with the program that he inherited (stole/whatever) from Majors.

His time had come and gone and his ass was fired!

Can't anyone remember that!

Present day: One game where the players are completely unprepared can happen.

Being unprepared two games, or three games and more then has to be laid at the feet of the coaching staff.

It ain't time to admit that a terrible mistake has been made, but if this continues, a vote will have to be taken!

I agree but would like to ad.

Jerk some scholarships. That will get their attention. Not sure if they are on a year by year basis but they should be.

No accountability. This is Big Boy football, mentally as much as physically.
We seem weak in both areas.

And yes, that ha a lot more to do with the previous coach that had them for years than the current coach that has had them for less than one.

Chryst fumble... really a bad snap. Even announcers said as it was replayed "it rolled and bounced" back to Chryst.

I honestly do not understand how the snaps can be so consistently bad at this level. Most high school coaches would lose their sh@# over the center consistently snapping as poorly as we have been.

Remember this guy was not the center at the start of the season. He is in his 3rd(?) game doing this job. Not trying to defend him or the staff. Once again, Butch just didn't leave much...

I watched an ESPN special once about Okla Homo. Barry Switzer said his team needed a team leader to get the team going. So he annoanted BozWorth who was only a freshman
Once that happened, the team played better
We need a Leonard Little or Al Wilson type of personality in two of our players.
We need leadership

I don't remember hearing Jennings' name until like the 3rd quarter. I could of missed it or maybe he just couldn't get open, I'm not sure.

But I remember thinking "why is this the first time tonight we've heard his name?"

Banks is the only one remotely close.

I wish he would take some of his fire 🔥 and light some fires in his teammates.

He has had 3 weeks to learn the one thing that must happen on every football down. It doesnt get more fundamental than that. If our staff doesnt deem accurate snaps important enough to focus on as a big part of practice...well I'm not sure what to say other than 3 weeks should be time enough IMO.

I wasnt close enough to the field for my old eyes to pick out where JJ lined up most plays but it appeared he was open on occasion. With his big body and ball skills he should be the first option on some plays IMO. Not sure if that's the case but JG seems to habe a difficult time finding JJ regardless.

Toss the ball behind you at the appropriate distance and block the big guy right in front of you immediately after that toss.

Amen, Rev. Right on the money. We need player-leaders. And haven't yet found nearly enough of them.

Our coaches can lead, sure. But when they're the only leaders on the team, you get results like last night.

Upperclassmen need to start stepping up.

Op, you lost me on two points.
I think most of us do have patience, hence we are still volunteers after a decade of bad football. Although, that patience is tougher and tougher to have.

Please stop with the snowflake analogy, for the most part the only people that complain about snowflakes are themselves snowflakes.

Wow, somebody on here that actually makes sense.

I do agree for the most part of what the OP says. However, we actually did have one on the field leader/general within the past decade. And that kid is Joshua Dobbs.

I think that his talent and leadership are the true reasons of the 9-4 seasons we had in 2015 and 2016. Definitely wasn't BJ's coaching, but because Dobbs would make things happen. The other players believed in him and respected him, and he would reward us for that when he'd find a way to win a game.

They havent had a leader since Dobbs left.

I agree Dobbs was a great leader. But he wasn’t the type to get in your face and hold you accountable like Al would. We need the vocal leader in the locker room.

Jennings has the be on the field every snap at least with Callaway. These 2 are a threat every time they touch it. Jennings energy is so needed it shouldn’t be questioned. Punishment time is over. He has shown how bad he wants it and to punish anyone that comes near him once he has it. He plays with ZERO FEAR. Dude is a warrior and the ONLY guy on offense that plays that way.
