Trump administration plans to sidestep limits on detaining immigrant children indefinitely

The Trump administration proposed a new rule on Thursday that would allow it to get around restrictions that prevent immigrant children from being held in federal detention for more than 20 days.

The proposal would circumvent rules established by a federal court settlement – known as the Flores settlement – that limited the detention of children and families for more than 20 days.

The proposed change is likely to face legal challenges from immigrant rights activists who oppose detaining children.

25 STRAIGHT MINUTES OF ILLEGAL ALIENS CROSSING INTO US THOUGH ARIZONA RANCH

Arizona rancher John Chilton’s 50,000-acre spread along the U.S.-Mexico border is allegedly ground zero for human smugglers, drug cartel members and illegal immigrants, and he has videos showing trespassers sneaking through his property.

A fifth-generation cattleman, the 79-year-old Chilton has long warned the government about the dangers of leaving lengthy stretches of the southwest border secured by nothing more than a barbed wire fence. To prove his point, he set up

surveillance cameras throughout his property to document the comings and goings of trespassers from south of the border.
Chilton shared hours of video footage with Daily Caller News Foundation reporters, who are in Arizona to document life and crime in the southwest borderlands. Tim Foley, the founder of Arizona Border Recon, also shared his group’s surveillance footage with TheDCNF.

Flight risk? You mean he might go back to Mexico? So an American prison is worse than Mexico. Interesting. At least we now have a starting point.

Kind of funny how the same Democrats who want gun control if it means saving even one child are against deporting illegal immigrants which could save hundreds of potential rape or murder victims.

Curious that it says he is an illegal alien but also says he is from Farmerville. Is that a suburb of Guadalajara?

Cops Capture 217 Central American Migrants Along Mexican Border State Dirt Roads

MONTERREY, Nuevo León — Cartel-connected human smugglers tried to move more than 300 Central American migrants from Monterrey to the border city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas. From there, the migrants were expected to cross into Texas. The effort failed after the groups tried to use multiple dirt roads in an attempt to get around a police checkpoint along the highway.

Illegal immigrant families exploit 'catch-and-release' loopholes, surge over border at record levels

Illegal immigration across the southwest border surged last month as President Trump’s zero-tolerance effort crumbled, and smugglers and migrant families rushed to take advantage of renewed “catch-and-release” loopholes.

Border officials acknowledged a “crisis” as the number of families reached record levels, topping even the worst days of the Obama administration.

It’s so bad that caravans of families like the one that drew headlines this spring have become commonplace. Authorities reported groups of 65, 65, 66, 96 and 163 illegal immigrants caught in just the last two weeks — with children as young as four months being carried through the scorching deserts of northern Mexico and southern Arizona.

The caravans are a sign of how brazen migrants have become, said Kevin McAleenan, commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. He said they know there’s little the administration can do, given court decisions hindering deportations, and lack of resources from Congress.

“These are a very direct response to the vulnerabilities in our legal framework,” he said.

He said the numbers were “expected,” given the administration’s widely publicized retreat from its zero-tolerance policy at the border, which came after immigrant-rights activists and members of Congress from both parties complained. Mr. McAleenan said that fight may even have perversely encouraged more people to come, after they became aware of the “loophole” of more lax treatment for illegal immigrant families.

How The Washington Post’s #FakeNews Hit On The Trump Administration Was Demolished By A Leftwing Website

Just a few weeks ago, the Washington Post ran a story that accused the Trump Administration of seeking to revoke the literal birth certificates of some Texans who were born along the Texas-Mexico border and whose birth was assisted by a midwife rather than a physician.
This story created all kinds of angst from open borders types and from a lot of nice-guy Republicans who claim to support the administration when it does the right thing but nothing just ever seems to be right.

In an amazing act of journalism in the Age of Trump, the Huffington Post has posted this: Bombshell Washington Post Story On Trump Passport Crackdown Withheld, Distorted Key Facts.
But the Post withheld key data, mischaracterized information and lobbed an allegation of fraud at a deceased doctor without speaking to his family members, who complained publicly, HuffPost has found. The piece has been substantially altered three times, including Thursday after multiple queries from HuffPost.

A Washington Post story alleged that Donald Trump’s administration is increasingly scrutinizing birth certificates signed by some midwives, but State Department data contradicts that claim.

The paper cited a number of specific policies to support its allegation of a crackdown: supposedly heightened scrutiny of birth certificates signed by midwives suspected of peddling fraudulent documents, supposedly unprecedented passport denials to people born far from the border, and a supposedly new focus on babies delivered by one Texas doctor.

All three practices predate Trump.

But when the State Department provided HuffPost the raw number of passport denials in suspect midwife cases along the border, those numbers contradicted the Post’s report. The number of denials steadily dropped, from a peak of 1,465 in 2015 to 971 last year. As of last month, the State Department appeared to be on pace to end 2018 with still fewer denials than last year. The total rejections in these cases since Trump took office number fewer than 1,600 ― not thousands.
This is pretty incredible and it is difficult to see how this string of errors was possibly made in good faith. The scope and starting date of three separate programs were misrepresented in the WaPo article while the Huffington Post was able to actually talk to the relevant agencies and get the real story.

Like the nasty political hit that the New York Times ran last week on Nikki Haley, it is sort of amazing that these monumentally skewed and distorted stories only run in one direction: against the Trump administration.

The ACLU has admitted that migrant parents in the “family separation” furor are deliberately leaving at least 114 children in the United States, says a court filing by the federal government.

The acknowledged abandonment of the 114 children and youths — plus the de-facto abandonment of up to 232 others — undermines the progressives’ media-magnified claim that President Donald Trump maliciously separated victimized families as they fled from crime into the safety of the United States.

Instead, the migrants’ decisions to leave 114 children behind highlights the migrants’ rational and reasonable plan to use the border loopholes created by progressives to get themselves and their children — either separately or together — to the United States’ job opportunities, free education, peaceful streets, and anti-poverty programs.

GROUP OF 170 UNACCOMPANIED ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT CHILDREN AND FAMILIES TURN THEMSELVES IN TO BORDER PATROL AGENTS

A group of 170 unaccompanied illegal immigrant children and families turned themselves in to Border Patrol officials in Texas on Tuesday.

The smuggled group sought the first agents they could find after midnight, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported Tuesday. The illegal immigrants are being processed by Border Patrol officials.

“As agents prepared the group for transport, the criminal organizations took advantage of the limited resources and simultaneously attempted to smuggle multiple other groups whom actively attempted to evade apprehension,” according to CBP.

A combined total of over 16,000 unaccompanied youth and people traveling in family units were either detained along the southwest border or were deemed inadmissible at entry ports in August, according to CBP figures released Sept. 12. Family unit apprehensions were 38 percent higher than in July.

“Smugglers and traffickers understand our broken immigration laws better than most and know that if a family unit illegally enters the U.S. they are likely to be released into the interior,” Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesman Tyler Houlton said in a statement, The Daily Caller News Foundation previously reported. AG Sessions Fines Housekeeping Company for Importing Foreigners Instead of Hiring Americans

Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ Department of Justice (DOJ) has fined a housekeeping company after revealing that they gamed the H-2B visa program to import foreign workers instead of hiring qualified Americans.

The DOJ settlement with Palmetto Beach Hospitality LLC is the fourth settlement by Sessions’ Protecting U.S. Workers Initiative where companies across the United States have been fined and penalized for importing foreign workers when there were qualified, ready to work Americans for the job.

Labor Dept. Fines Another H-1B Sweatshop Which Cheated American Graduates

Investigators at the Department of Labor have exposed another large Indian-owned outsourcing company which underpaid low-wage foreign H-1B workers to win contracts sought by American graduates.

The penalty shines a spotlight on the establishment-backed business of international sweatshops for college graduates, and it also exposed a self-titled “university” that can be used to funnel unpaid Indian graduates into the college-grad job market.

The graduate-sweatshop issue is becoming more visible because Kansas GOP Rep. Kevin Yoder and GOP leaders are pushing legislation that would quickly convert 300,000 Indian H-1B outsourcing-workers into American immigrants. Yoder’s so-called “country caplegislation likely will be pushed through during a lame-duck session after the election.
