They tell the kid to look elsewhere because they are getting an upgrade. It's politics in recruiting. You should know this by now. Butch may have issues in coaching but NOT recruiting

Or maybe they are excellent at late evaluations. Predictions are what they are and when you find out your prediction is wrong, you adjust. Business people do it. Project managers do it. Airline pilots do it. You thinking coaches shouldn't ever need to revisit a prediction? What planet are you from?

Agreed the staff is excellent at late in the process evaluations. That's why I am fired up about the latest DE commit. To your adjustment comment. Sure professionals make adjustments but the problem is with this staff is their adjustment had been to take more and more early marginal talents every year. They have adjusted into the area they are awful at, early evaluations.

How often have we seen this staff offer a kid only to watch him blow up with stars and offers? Just as frequently as we've seen them cut kids loose who didn't develop.

It happens when you're dealing with 16-17 years who are still growing and playing against different levels of competition.

Are we at the top of the food chain, middle, or bottom?

IMO it's time we start acting like we are the top instead of recruiting like we are Miss state and can't beat the elites out for late bloomers.

You don't choose where you are on the food chain. You recognize it and optimize based on reality. Otherwise, you die. We would be stupid to only offer to 4-5 stars.

We offer top players, we recruit top players, we get some top players. We don't get them all, nor does anyone else. We are in the mix with OSU and Clemson and Bama and GA and Auburn and FSU and Miami for a lot of players they all want. They get some, we get some. Do you think Butch is avoiding good players?

No he isn't avoiding good players he just is so insecure that he is going to be able to get them later in the process he loads up on questionable players. And year after year those mistakes in evaluating recruits early in the process keeps getting worse and worse.

Interesting - Lawson got a CB last night to Florida State. This place will blow up if this dude ends up at FSU after cutting bait with him at this point considering our need for depth on the DL.
