“ I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”

The road not taken by Robert Frost

“Life is full of love
If you abandon the hate,
Look to the One above
As an example to take.
Hate is a burden
And love is what we all need,
So I ask each of you now,
Which one will you feed?”

"Anthem for Doomed Youth" by Wilfred Owen

What passing bells for these who dies as cattle?
Only the monstrous anger of the guns,
Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle,
Can patter out their hasty orisons.

From "Lord Jim" by Joseph Conrad:

The danger, when not seen, has the imperfect vagueness of human thought. The fear grows shadowy; and Imagination, the enemy of men, the father of all terrors, unstimulated, sinks to rest in the dulness of exhausted emotion.

I'm impressed. Do you write a lot of poetry?

No sir. Only when the urge hits me.
Here is the poem in its entirety.

As we walk through this world,
That always seems gray,
Remember the One
That came here to save.
He came for us all,
Including you and me,
He lived and He died
So we all could be free.
No matter who you are
And no matter what you've done,
He gave you a life
And He gave up His son.
He loved you that day,
He loves all of us still,
So why is there pain
And today it seems more real?
You see people aren't perfect
We all make mistakes,
But there is only so much of it
Everyone is willing to take.
We all have our boiling point
In the waters of our souls,
Depending on what's inside you,
You will eventually overflow.
So overflow with the good,
And give up the bad
Because He made you to love
And not to be mad
Everyone wants to be better,
But not everyone wants the chore
As you have to a look inside you,
To see what's at the core.
Life is full of love
If you abandon the hate,
Look to the One above
As an example to take.
Hate is a burden
And love is what we all need,
So I ask each of you now,
Which one will you feed?

Well done. I write a little poetry also. Most times to and for my wife. As far as i know, nobody has ever read them besides her. Poetry is a great vessel to share love. Love is what life is actually about, what we do for God and others is the only lasting influence we leave behind. Never seen a hearse with a luggage rack or a safe tied on...but I have seen men meet their end and leave a legacy, because of the love they shared.

Some of y’all need to go ahead and turn in your man cards....
😎

Lol. The only poetry I can quote are limericks.

I'm certain that is not the direction This Thread is intended to go

This isn't some deep inspiring quote but I always thought its descriptiveness was funny as hell:

"The streets... turned around and in upon themselves, as if they'd been laid out by a drunk and then paved by a man who understood him perfectly."

- from The Risk Pool by Richard Russo

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers.
For he, today that sheds his blood with me shall be my Brother.
Henry V act 4 scene 3.

The speech in its entirety has so much more power. But a bit long here.

From "Middlemarch" by George Eliot

If youth is the season of hope, it is often so only in the sense that our elders are hopeful about us; for no age is so apt as youth to think its emotions, partings, and resolves are the last of their kind. Each crisis seems final, simply because it is new.

From Lost Horizon by James Hilton

"We have reason. It is the entire meaning and purpose of Shangri-La. It came to me in a vision long, long ago. I foresaw a time when man exalting in the technique of murder, would rage so hotly over the world, that every book, every treasure would be doomed to destruction. This vision was so vivid and so moving that I determined to gather together all things of beauty and culture that I could and preserve them here against the doom toward which the world is rushing. Look at the world today. Is there anything more pitiful? What madness there is! What blindness! A scurrying mass of bewildered humanity crashing headlong against each other. The time must come, my friend, when brutality and the lust for power must perish by its own sword. For when that day comes, the world must begin to look for a new life. And it is our hope that they may find it here."

They say the devil's water, it ain't so sweet
You don't have to drink right now
But you can dip your feet
Every once in a little while
