I will add (from repeated experience):

Buy a big box of plastic trash bags, throw it in the back of your car and leave it there. From toddler age onward, you will go to that box on multiple occasions.

This is THE thread VN needs. Parenting tips, tricks, and advice.

Mine:
-a baby on its back with a full length mirror (light one) secured to its crib or playpen can sometimes go for 30-45 minutes entertaining itself.
-mount I-hooks into top of door framing. Attach straps with hooks to car seat and I hooks. Gently swing baby through door opening. Nighty night.
- For the Love of everything Holy, let that baby learn to soothe itself and go to sleep in its crib on its own.
