Coaching Possibility (Lance Guidry)

If he has ties to Orgeron...then he will probably be a tireless recruiter. Orgeron wouldn't invite a staff position to someone who wasn't a relentless worker.

It all comes down to Monte though...which is good to know.

Let the arguement of "we're only asking his father to join the team just to get his son" in 3...2...1...

...a bogus arguement by the way.

I agree 100% with that. He has ties to Orgeron so the guy has to be impressive. Monte is the 1 that has to hire him though.

Also start counting down to when someone says something about Wade Houston...

It will come...give it time.

Yes...if he's good enough for Monte, he's good enough for me. Something tells me Monte and Ed know what they're doing.

We're asking his son to be a Vol in order to hire his father, crazy?!?!

Wade Houston's son Allen was a good basketball player.

There, you happy??????

This was floating around yesterday. I don't know if Hubbs left it out intentionally or if it is a false rumor, but I heard that Guidry said he wouldn't be a pawn in his son's recruitment and wouldn't accept the job if JJ went to UT. It's one thing to be a headcoach and your son be on the team. It's another thing to be a position coach at a high profile school, and directly coach your son.

Haha...

You know what I meant though. Someone would have eventually played that angle.

What are his ties to Orgeron, and what are his duties at McNeese St?

O used to be a grad assistant there and he coaches the DBs.

I heard this last week and posted it in the recruiting forum, but I dont think hes what we need. Not very impressed with his resume.

I don't know if I like this whole situation. He has been the defensive coordinator at McNeese St. though.

Awesome just what we need a db coach from Mcneese St. come on guys seriously wouldn't be a good hire.

Have you even read the guys bio or done any research on him?? He seems like a solid guy and O knows him and thinks he is a good coach. I'll take O's word on it.

Yea because we all know only good coaches coach at big time schools or the NFL right?

Networking, and who you know is a huge factor in coaching. This could be the big break for this guy.

Some of the most knowledgable football minds I have ever worked with or talked to have been at high school level, and small college level. Football is football...it's who you know though most the time that depends on where it is you coach...

Can u say GARBAGE resume. You guys are really are way to optimistic. And just cause someone knows someone doesn't make it a good hire. And you guys are probably the ones who said dave clawson was a good hire.LOL come on guys you got to be real sometimes.Just because you have good networking skills doesn't make that person a good hire. You guys are way too excited. I just hope that you guys aren't too disapointed if things go south with this guy or any of the coaching staff. Hopefully, it won't and we destroy the Gators, Bulldogs, or anybody else that stands in our way of winning a NC.Go Vols. If he does get hired. GREAT! Happy for him. Just don't expect him to do great things.

Your right, if he doesn't come from a big school then he must suck. Hard to argue that logic there.

Hire the guy, Monty needs someone to carry his clipboard and bring him water, heck his son is a 5 star.

I just don't understand the negativity. If it's a guy we've never heard of, then he doesn't know anything about football. Geez people let these guys prove they are good or bad.

I don't think people are being overly optimistic. I think guys are giving them a chance. Couldn't be any worse than the guys we've had recently.

It just wouldn't fit with what Kiffin has said about being coached by the coaches out there. I don't think we hire him. I think the interview gets his name out there and with all the conections the Kiffins have in Coaching trying to get some kind of relationship going wouldn't be bad for the guy. But don't look for him to coach our DB's. At least I don't see it.

Colin Montgomerie (Monty) has a caddie that can carry his water for him...
