Will new HC keep Chavis

I love Chavis, but I don't think he'll be here next year.

A new HC will have to keep someone on the staff just to find where all the bodies are buried. He would be a good one to keep it his ego does not get the best of him.

If we do keep anyone, we could do worse. Much worse. I think Chavis has a better defense than you'll find in the Big XII.

I don't think he will be here but it might help with having some carry over and making the new staff comfortable. Chavis knows how to coach. I will be happy either way, it's really up to the new coach.

I remember us once worrying about losing Chavis because there was rumor of him leaving for a HC position.

I maybe wrong, but I do not think that Chavis is that great of a recruitter. Also, I often find that the defense is constantly in the wrong schemes. Player development is not his greatest strength. His defense is based on the type of athletes that somebody else recruits. Many years ago we should have gotten rid of him and when the offense is right the defense is wrong and vica versa. This defense of the championship season was the best fielded but was done in spite of his ability. Plus I do not want anybody on staff with ties to Fulmer.

Uhh... would you like a list of the LB's to have come through TN's program since Chavis took over?

I think a new coach would be wise to keep him, but the money chest will be open and the new coach will bring in one of his guys.

There is a list of them and those players were recruitted by the staff not Chavis. They had a ton of talent before they got there which is my point they did not improve. They could have gone to the other schools and improved just if much. LBs are important but face it there is not much coaching going on when it comes to the defense. It's more about schemes, positioning and putting the most talented on the field combined with the players natural instincts and aggressiveness. For how many years do you remember in this decade that our players could not even tackle properly. A lot of short term memories. Plus I want the new coach to hire his guy and there is too much ties between Fulmer and Chavis. It is time to hit the reset button. Zero out and start over and do it until we get it right. No more patch work

Been nice knowing you, Chavis. I like him but the new guy will probably want his own person. If our offense would have been worth 2 cents this year, our defense would have put us in pretty good position this year. Our offense really let them down.
