Does losing or the idea of losing to KY and Vandy actually put pressure on the powers that be to accelerate the hire, and increase the information coming out of Knoxville?

I personally don't know, but I wondered what you guys thought.

It has too. Our program is collapsing under all the negativity.

I don't think so. Our new coach should look forward to a challenge.

I don't think that losing the last few games factor into the new hire's decision at all. The UCLA game told the world how bad this team was performing.

I'm wondering if there will be pressure on Hamilton to be more forthcoming with info about who he is actually talking to.

No, to me it's more important to make the right hire, rather than to settle for a lesser coach just to satisfy the fan base a few months earlier.

The season is over. Win/Loss doesn't matter to the powers that be. I saw little motivation in CPF on his show today.

What I'm trying to say is, if the powers that be thought wins were important CPF would be gone.

Hamilton said last Wednesday I believe, that we would know in the next five weeks. I would say we know who will be our coach the first week in December.

According to Hamilton one of the top priorities during this search is to preserve confidentiality as much as possible. So no, I don't think we'll hear more or less for him regardless of wins or losses.

I think you are right, but human nature is a funny animal.

With us now not going to a bowl, I would say there is a little more pressure to wrap up the search and make an announcement, but really at this point it can't get too much worse. I would love to beat Vandy, and I am fairly confident that we will beat UK.

With Randall Cobb under center, UK is a much better football team than Vandy.

They are, but I HOPE that we are playing with a lot of emotion. This UT offense is terrible but it is Phil's last game, senior day, longest winning streak, etc. Also, UK will predictably try their hardest to screw it up.

What candidate would require that level of secrecy?

As far as playing with emotion goes, the emotion that I've seen on the sidelines is at a minimal. I'm almost certain that there is no emotion to play on and what emotion that they do have, they will not channel it in the right direction.

And UK trying hard to screw up goes, I can't argue with you on that one. Touche'

I can't speak for others but I know that after losing to Wyoming I am in utter disbelief and shock that one year removed from going 10-4, we are this bad. The good thing is that the announcement of a coaching change has helped me to cope with the fact we are one of the worst teams in college football this year so losing out the rest season won't cause me to feel any worse than I do now. I think with some of the names being thrown around as a replacement, it looks pretty good and I think the new HC can use this season as a good example for motivation to play hard.

As far as information being thrown out before the end of the season to who our new HC will be, I doubt it. After yesterday, I don't think many people want to watch this team play anymore this season so an announcement of who it is won't fill anymore seats. I think everyone is just tired of trying to support a team that just doesn't want to or care to compete anymore.

Or...maybe MH has the guy hired and is just waiting until Christmas to give us a gift we all want. Maybe MH wants to play Santa Claus :)

GO VOLS!!!

It has been minimal, but keep in mind that there is going to be a VERY powerful locker room speech by Phillip before the game. Again, I am hoping that they will come out with a desire to win the last game.

I think they need to be considered with getting a good hire rather than timing it right. Gruden and Davis have never been likely, but rejection from them will still drop morale (especially Gruden), and if UT hires a candidate who wasn't that popular on here, things could get ugly here.

Don't count on it.
