I've answered your question a couple of times in this thread. I've also pointed out that Tennessee will not sign a top 5 class.

| And the next good team whom Weis beats, by the way, will be the first. He's beaten two nine-win teams at Notre Dame so far. One of them was Navy, and the other was the mediocre Penn State team who beat us in the Outhouse Bowl a couple of years ago. That's it.
For this he is being paid between three and four million dollars a year. |

Obviously, we're all pretty upset (to put it mildly) watching our team underacheive week in and week out, and slowly see our once all-mighty program sink into the depths of utter despair........ What if the team has a BAD record, as many of us predict, but the amazing recruiter Fulmer is able to pull off yet another TOP-5 recruiting class, loading the team up for YEARS to come...........
It may be very difficult to cut Fulmer loose under those cirumstances..........With a big contract in place, and another TOP-5 recruiting class on the way, my guess is that some offensive assistants will be sent packing, including Clawson, and Fulmer gets to stay..........
what do u guys think??? | .

| First of all Fulmer didn't steal anything...and anybody wishing that Majors had stuck around is an idiot.
People can compare the last seven years of each coach and see how they compare...yeah big whoop. Compare them before that...again Fulmer won an NC here, Majors did not. 2 teams dominated the SEC for many years...UF and UT. Majors didn't dominate jack. And for those "in the know" we're damn lucky that UT never got hit with massive probation under Majors....the fact of the matter is that this program was in much worse shape when Majors left than what it is now.
That I can remember...age wise mind you...I'm on my 4th UT coach during my lifetime and I commend Fulmer for putting the program back to where it needed to be. But to me...there is no comparison between Fulmer and Majors. Johnny was a tyrant, had an ego that made Spurrier look like a child, was despised by a littany of assitant coaches and single handidly destroyed most relationships between high school coaches in the state of TN and the University. Something IMO that Fulmer is only know being able to repair...even though he still could have done a better job it than he has. Bottom line ...one coached talk a good game the other did it.
That being said, I've wanted Phil gone since 2002...I saw the cracks in the armor in 2001 and nobody agreed...used to post on Volquest till I took a break for a few years.
Again...it's just time to step down. The program needs new blood, new direction, fresh idea's. As a fan...there's nothing wrong with that...as a supporter we have to have that. For the good of UT football things have gotta change. But please never compare Fulmer and Majors because there is no comparison and anybody that truly knows what happened understands that.
And no, Fulmer will not have a top 5 class. It's easy to sell kids success, easy to sell them PT when you've come off a bad season but even the kids are smart enough to smell whats cookin on the hill this time around.
