Football Not to Point Out the Obvious

this coming from ESPN
ESPN - Separation Saturday showed the Big 12's Haves and Have-Nots - Columnist

about us.. dang makes me cringe to even post it

Dave Clawson (28), Tennessee. The Volunteers are riding a three-game streak of offensive ineptitude that has produced 31 points -- their lowest three-game total in 14 years. If their 18 ppg average doesn't improve, it would be the lowest in 34 years. Clawson was the former head coach at high-scoring Richmond, but he might be headed back to the FCS level if Tennessee continues to flail offensively. Amazing how ordinary the Vols' offense has looked over the years when not coordinated by David Cutcliffe.

not saying it is all his fault that our QB couldn't get the job done, or that CPF hasn't had his hand in running the offence.. just posting the facts

UT's offense was expected to be one of the most prolific units in the country. With nearly every receiver, running back, and lineman returning from last year's team, it's almost incomprehensible that UT's offense could be this bad.

I agree, and while I like what Clawson says in interviews, I can't help but start to think that maybe he IS out of his depth in the SEC. QB aside, most of the personel returned from last year. There ought to be SOMETHING that we could run on offense. Agree?

maybe we can find our way soon, the QB change can't hurt, have to be able to throw it down the field to open lanes for our running game... here is hoping we kick UGA's butt

GO VOLS!!!

Bad hires are made all the time. Unfortunately, Fulmer made a bad one at the wrong time.

Wrong, He has not been given a fair shake. No hire was going to work under the circumstances. He is not totally in control of the calls. Clawson might not work out but this season to date is not a fair assessment of his abilities, he has been handcuffed by Fulmer. Plus, Crompton just hasn't lived up to the hype(not Clawson's choice) and is not an SEC quality QB. He needs more than a few games to prove himself.

OK....here goes the "I heard from someone with inside connections"

I was told today, "Fulmer has not allowed Clawson to run the offense as he wants".

Fulmer has not handcuffed Clawson. I'll leave it at that.

Your inside connections are wrong.

I guess you believe Sanders was a genius and the program is still going in the right direction?

What's your pretty good idea, I would love to hear it? We need a solution.

Sanders was/is not SEC OC material and CPF let him die on the vine for too long. Clawson is also free to run the offense, with input from the HC - just like every other OC in college football. Why do you think head coaches wear headphones with a mic?

You claimed I have no idea what goes on inside the coaches' office, I was just letting you know that I do.

Expectations, man ain't they great? Like when we were preseason ranked 3rd and had a meltdown. You've hit the nail on the head we had all the ingredients on offense to have a formidible attack, and yet because of a undefinable, invisible, factor with no face everything sucks. And everyone wonders why the fans are talkin up change. We hear things like ''We just did'nt suddenly become stupid'' and ''just keep doubting me''. We talk over factors like athletic effort and commitment, coaching abilities and commitment, and yet no one seems to be able to identify that one common denominator that causes the whole offense to suck. I think when faced with such a problem, similar to the Detroit Lions are enduring, if the powers that be on the UT campus are serious about having a program that is a perpetual winner, they must dissolve the entire staff and reboot. Just my 2 cents.
