Please remember the 2 TD loss to 6-6 Cal and the blowout beatdown to 6-6 Bama in '07. Those weren't powerhouse opponents. Part of the reasons those teams were a lot better than us those days is because we decided to be especially lousy those days.

We decided to be especially lousy on a lot of days last year. Lady luck just happened to favor us against SC, Vandy, and UK -probably Wisconsin, too. This season is the law of averages catching up with us. The Auburn game this year very easily could have been the South Carolina game last year. The UCLA game could have been the UK game. You can't keep letting crappy competition hang within one score of you.

amen. last year we made it to Atlanta with smoke and mirrors. that's not happening this year.

what i remember about hte Cal and Bama games is watching guys make huge returns against us, WR's blowing by our DB's, the other team getting points off turnovers......all the things good teams do to bad teams. Neither team played a better game all year long than the day they played us. i do think that says something about us too, but looking back on it now, the 07 Vols was the definition of "hang on".

in 05 and 08, i still maintain these two teams beat the crap out of themselves. dropped balls, poor qb play, penalties, poor special teams, turnovers etc....

neither of these teams can get out of their own way long enough to do enough good to win a game that matters.

to me, 06 and 07 were basically the same season. the only difference, Florida lost one more SEC game in 07 than they did in 06.

and so far 05 and 08 are the same seasons.

and that's simply not good.

True. Eventhough the national media bought into our hope in '05, the fall this year from expectations to performance feels very similar to me. Both teams feature(d) decent defensive units and pathetic offenses.
