If I recall VHB (Im so shocked that you are coming to the defense of a turn) they were loaded up pretty good on the Pre-All SEC last year as well. How did that work out for them before the season was over? I'm not convinsed that they have the D to not lose 3 or more games next season.
I have no idea about our Offense but our Defense is going to be thin on the line but pretty good everywhere else. But I dont think the turd lawyer needs you defending him.

Thanks VH and LG! You guys just saved me a bunch of money. That was gonna be the game I went to this year but you guys just convinced me to stay at home and save myself the trouble.

I guess it's gonna have to be the Bama game. What's your outlook on that one VH?

Hey LG, chomp on this >>>>

Tennessee won 9 of their last 11 games and finished 10-4 after a bowl win.

Florida lost 4 of their last 9 games and finished 9-4 after a bowl loss.

I can see how because they were 2006 National Champions, Florida has all of the momentum and the Tennessee fans here should be envious of Urban's bulge.

Not really. The Pre-Season guys love Florida every year and since CMR has been at UGA they love them as well. I need to see it on the field to believe it. Until then I dont care what others say.

UGA and UF as well as UT, bammer, Aub and LSU all have plenty of ? coming into the fall.

Exactly. The wear and tear of the season takes its toll. In order to make it through a tough conf you better have a good defense.

To be perfectly honest, I don't know. I went to the Cap One Bowl game and our defense would have been better had they simply not taken the field. I think that Michigan would have scored less if they'd been out there all by themselves.

Meyer and Charlie Strong both looked to me like they were about to stroke out. They were beyond exasperated.

Recognizing that the recruits were good last year but replacing nine departing players, one would expect them naturally to have improved from their first to second years. But that is not always the case. So we will just have to wait and see.

My hope is well documented here, and that is that given how proficient our offense is going to be (and they really ought to be among the tops in the country), then the defense doesn't actually have to be that great for us to win ball games and be competitive.

The way I see it, two years ago our defense was excellent, the offense mediocre, but good enough to score enough points that the defensive effort did the trick. This year, its the reverse. Gators will put up gawdy numbers and score a ton -- can the defense do just enough to win?

I dunno.'

That's actually a damn good point by you.

I'm debating whether that is a compliment or an insult. Perhaps both?

You should go to the game and see in person the difference between 5 star and 3 star players at skill positions. Its one thing to see that on tv, quite another to watch it on the field in front of you.

Isn't Tim Terrific waiting for you somewhere for his daily rubdown? I know he is getting antsy. I'm sure of it.

Would one not think that by the bowl game the players would be better? As a former defensive player I think it is easier to learn defense than offense. Especially on the line. Your defense seemed to get worse not better as the year went on. You also have to take into account that defensive coodinators have another year to learn the Cryers offense and TT and Harvin as well. I think there is a plenty of ? in Gainsville for those who are not as you say rah rah guys.

My post wasn't directed at anyone. I tried to post something with a quote, quoted the wrong person, tried to edit, and finally just decided what I was going to say wasn't worth the effort anyway (no comments please).

I was shocked the won last year. Even more shocked that they monkey stomped the Vols they way they did with such B-list talent. And yet even more shocked that the UTAD would not only retain, but give a raise and a contract extension to the head coach who oversaw that putrid slice of humiliation. That said, I think the Vols beat Bama in Knoxville. The Tide is still a year or two away due to the dearth of deep talent caused by the scholarship limitations that just ended last year. If Saban does come up to K-town and humilate the Orange in their own house I would hope the hfc has the decency to resign so the Vols can get on with finding a suitable replacement.

Never happen. We've reached the point where if it's a close game we're ok. Moral victories are beginning to be fashionable again. (see SECCG last year)
