| I mean why can't we get back to the pre-PF days when NC's, SEC rings, and top-5 recruiting classes were a commonplace? I'll tell you why, because they didn't exist. |

You're right.
He said it a lot last year, and the year before that, and the year before that.........
I can't say, though, that I totally disagree with his frustration. |

This is an odd situation. If the team does really well, then VRC is proven to have been closer to right than billbattle. On the other hand, if the Vols struggle this year, then thse defenders of the faith have some pretty decent built-in excuses, i.e. that you have the new QB/OC and rebuilding the D line, tough schedule, etc.
If the Vols do well this year (SEC c-ship or BCS bowl game), then I think CPF and the program as a whole are back in good graces with the fans. If the team struggles, and by that I mean going .500 or a win or two better than that, then I think that CPF & Co. have one more chance to ride out the storm and they had better at that point recruit their butts off. |

I didn't realize we were actually rebuilding our Dline....from where I sit it will be piece meal until we get some more able bodies around. |

| Like it or not LG we have just as much of a chance as you guys.
I know you like it here because so many posters suffer from an inferiority complex when it comes to UT/UF. I'm not one of those.
I honestly believe you guys are in for a suprise this year.

Did I say anything about Fulmer? The last time I checked his fat ass didn't play the players did and yes I have faith in the players and feel they're gonna open up a can in Knoxville. Give a kid your tickets so he/she can enjoy them.
I bet you were the kid on the block that ran from the bully cause he got his wittle butt whooped the last time. I was the kid savin your ass. |

and really....what's the difference between 8-5 and 7-6?
nothing. at that point, you're just glad you have a 12 game schedule and you got to go to a bowl and get a check.

I suppose that in a metaphysical and purely mathematical sense, every team playing in a BCS conference has the same chance Florida does. But in the real world, where these games are not independent events (like flipping a quarter, etc.), then I think we can give at least some weight to recent past performance, areas of improvement and decline, etc.
In other words, at this snapshot in time, you are theoretically right that UT and Florida begin next year 0-0.
As to your comment about Florida being in for a surprise this year, please elaborate. Are you referring to just the UT game, or in general?
If the former, please advise why anyone in their right mind would, ahead of the coming game, think that Florida is taking a step back and UT one forward, especially one so large so as to erase the deficit last year (not just in terms of score, but overall performance).
If the latter, please explain the factual basis for thinking that Florida is going to have a bad year. Are you privy to some sort of news on Harvins foot procedure recovery? Have you inside knowlegdeon a running back with a bad test score? Something tangible?
Or is this just wishful thinking by a diehard UT fan who cannot stand the fact that, in all probability (note: probability, not certainty) Florida will emerge victorious from Neyland this year? |
