Academically, well, that's a different story.
mm | Don't think I said you were a novice. The UT staff also thought Marques Johnson and Tony Passley could contibute at the SEC level. Cronin & Co. thought Alvin Mitchell was worth a scholarship. They're good staffs, they're not perfect. |

| Everyone can miss a recruit every now and then. I don't really think Maze is that great, but we're going to have to get some depth at PG next season. He'll only be here 2 years at most.

Gary didn't rescind anything, maryland wouldn't allow Bobby to enroll. Still needs 9 hours this summer and has a low GPA despite "cake" classes.
Some schools wouldn't want to transfer some of the classes in at all.....

Nobody can predict a players desire and ability to improve.....
but that's not the case here. If Maze never gets a bit better, he can play at the SEC level right now. Very very few people doubt his talent/ability.

| Will he be top 5 PG in the SEC right now? I would consider him 8th or below based on limited things I've saw and read about him

If there was nothing recent that caused this I don't understand why he would be leaving. | Sounds to me like Crews is playing the damage control game, hoping to salvage a bit of his reputation so he ends up at Virginia Tech instead of VCU. |

| Neither will be missed at UT.
If they don't care enough to "play by the rules"....get lost!
I respect CBP enough to know that he looked into the future and saw what was going to happen. UT basketball will be just fine.
R. Smith was too much up-down to be counted on
D Crews was a non factor except for maybe 2 games this year.
Kids need ONE extra chance, after that....see ya! |

Just to recap:
-He hasn't had any negative incidents since last fall.
-His academics are just fine.
Yep, this dismissal makes perfect sense. I don't doubt Crews' account one bit. | Add that to that fact that per Jimmy Hyams, he was told by someone today that neither of these guys had run out of strikes (it's either 4 or 5 positive tests before you are expelled, i.e. Coker).
So lets get a tally:
1. No negative incidents since last fall
2. No academic problems
3. No running out of strikes on drug tests
And yet, on the one hand, the coaching staff bends over backwards (and rightfully so may I add) to assist one player that was facing a life threatening illness in Lofton, yet they mysteriously run a guy from Knoxville that had a similar life threatening crisis with his heart, even though he had allegedly turned his life around and was in good academic standing?
Who else is buying this? |
