More staff changes?

Not doubting you VH, but where'd you hear this from?
I just read it on another board. Some guy claiming an email going around, may even involve Steele. I am asking because I myself have not seen any such email but I figured if the rumor is true then maybe someone here would know something that they are willing to share. Basically, I am looking for information, not pot stirring.

Has anyone else heard/read that there may yet be turnover on the defense staff?

The possibility of a Chavis departure is still swirling around in some circles. Logically, if he was going to leave, I think he would have pulled the trigger by now. I sincerely think that Fulmer and company knew they were going to come up short at DT regardless of who the defensive coaches were.

Right now I think the entire staff remains intact...but with all the coaching moves that happened within the SEC in the off season nothing would surprise me.

I do think that Steele is unhappy, but if you look at what Bama pulled it would be awfully hard to leave at this point.

Well, here is an interesting twist. Maybe Chavis stayed on so that wouldn't add another adverse affect to recruiting? I know how things ended up but when the decision was made... or not made (as this is all smoke and mirrors and pure speculation) it was done to not add another strike to the list. Makes sense to me, especially if he wouldn't be taking another job.

That's not fair to the kids we may have been making a late push with. If Chavis did that just to scoop up some recruits and then planned on bouncing, that would be pretty dirty... giving these newly added recruits false info.

Did I read someplace that Chavis and Steel are best- buds? I saw something on this board a few months back about them vacationing together and that Steele was the heir of Chavis' throne.

They scuba dive together

Considering Chavis won't get off of his butt and recruit, none of this is applicable.

there was talk going on during the recruiting season about this on another board...a poster mentioned that chavis was going to retire and ut was going to hire steele...in the end though the poster said that parts of the deal fell through that was the last i had heard about steele to ut

If Chavis wants to retire, I'll gladly take Steele. 2 positives would come out of it:
1. He had a top 50 D last year w/ less talented players.
2. We take a DC from Alabama.

That and he's a top 10 recruiter, I think at this time, that may more important

I think we saw how important a cohesive coaching staff is for recruiting this year. Next year, who knows. But Chavis had them playing well at the end last year. I tend to agree that he and Slade need to move along and get some fire breathers in here.

Sure would like to have seen Wil Muschamp as our D Coordinator.

I think I agree with the others here in that I feel if Chavis wanted to leave he would have done so already.
