"Beating them by 22"

Nice quote this morning.

I think that would be a mistake for a coach to say. I mean, there's bulletin board material, and then there's hire a hit man material.

heard him also say we were "sharing the sugar" last night. I like it

What's so bad about saying nothing better than beating one of our biggest rivals?

BTW, not sure why but I really like Donovan. He seems classy.

I wish UT would not have held up and beat them by 30! I've had enough of these obnoxious UF fans at my office still talking about their 2 titles---give it up boys, that's old news. UT---the new kid on the block in the SEC baby!!!

guess the board wasn't around at the time, but surely you viewed many of Spurrier's jabs in the same light.

Amazing how little the bulletin board material mattered in the long run.

The entire BB material comment is another trite ESPNism that has been overplayed to the hilt.

I winced when Spurrier opened his mouth because you could never tell what was coming out. This would have been especially so had he singled out a team, talked about how badly we beat them ... when we had to play them again in 3 weeks.

good, at least you're consistent.

Have you given thought to how much the coach's gloating makes his players want to play hard for him?

I liked Spurrier for it and I like Pearl for it.

That's all well and good right now, but come tourney time, I am going to remind you guys of things like this when we see all the "Why does everyone want us to lose?" and "Everybody hates us" threads.

There's usually one or two teams that everyone loves to hate come tournament time. They are designated as arrogant, overconfident, overrated, targeted because people are jealous of them, upstart, etc.

That is going to be you guys this year, no doubt about it. BPV, I know you can handle that. But there's going to be a bunch of whining, ala the ESPN hates us conspiracy theorists, who will just not understand why UT isn't being invited to sit at the cool kids' table.

UT isn't ever invited to sit at the cool kids table, even when we ARE the the cool kids. We're used to it. We'll get over it.

i won't need any reminding. BP is 4-1 against FL since he got here. for once, we should have some bravado when discussisng the Gators. Tourney not withstanding, i'll take the ownage of the gators for what it is. nobody thinks we're going to beat FL forever, but while it's happening, why not enjoy it? it's part of what establishing and building a rivalry is all about. in football you had spurrier. in baskeball we got Bruce. take it for what it is and move on........

I find myself nodding in agreement with your assessment.

(But grudgingly!)

Billy Donovan---very good coach, but he's owned by Bruce Pearl right now, which is enjoyable.
