it's too bad he decided to move on. He looks really good & could've gone on calling games for years to come.

He should get a standing O everywhere he goes. The man is a legend and got me through many games.

It's impossible to over-estimate how much John Ward did to build the Vols program.

He was everything to Tennessee during the long era of college football (and basketball) that didn't have PPV games. For many years, I used to play his voice and watch on TV.

I miss him too!

I have listened to many radio play by play announcers, but there is none to compare to John Ward. I show his video "The Voice" to my speech class in school to show them how to be precise and descriptive with the English language. He will forever be the Voice of the Vols. He is such a humble man. He said in the video he did not expect to be remembered. Now I hope he realizes he will never be forgotten by the Big Orange Faithful.

Definitely a great moment. He started out getting a little more than the average cheer but then it kept building and building until the entire stadium was into it. Probably only lasted 30 seconds but it seemed like 5 minutes.

I couldn't tell but it seemed like at the end he was trying to hold back tears. Ward is the man.

In this age of every game being televised or streamed, we'll never see the greats of radio broadcasting again.

I'm glad I was part of this history.
