Conspiracy Theories

The preferred profile of a Vol HC is native Tn, UT Grad, UT player, Fulmer for example. Theory has it that the next HC will fit the profile. Anybody catch the $1 million donation to UT by Phil and spouse? Theory has it that there is an underlying message in that donation. Taxes. Theory has it that PF and the U have already negotiated PF's exit and the buy out created a large tax problem that could be solved by a hefty donation to a favorite charity. UT, for example.

Why is PF so relaxed about this season and so confident that things will work out? Theory has is that PF, a coaching institution and inheritor of Neyland status in the annals of UT football history, will announce his retirement just before the last game of the season. Beside him will be the new HC, selected in part, by PF himself.

Next? Theory has a candidate. Can you guess who it is? Hint. It is not a Division I-A HC.

I can't speak to the rest of it--although I seriously doubt that there is a well orchestrated behind the scenes conspiracy--but the math and tax laws do not add up to account for the donation. Aside from taking away from a generous act, I can't imagine how a million dollar donation would solve any "large tax problem" created by a buyout. If he donates $1 million to a tax exempt charity, it means he doesn't have to pay taxes on the $1 million he donated. That doesn't solve any problem with a buyout. If he were looking to mitigate taxes on a buyout, a much better method would be to assign a portion of the buyout to the University rather than to himself, but he would still owe taxes on the money he receives.

Oh wait let me guess John gruden will be standing beside him... he owns property in the area you know.

Question: Is there a buyout in place for Pearl since he donated money to UT?

Fact: Bears beat Battlestar Galactica.
