I read that a while back. It struck me a little funny that there is a Johnny Majors Room at Pitt with pictures including the 82 win over Bear Bryand and Bama. It doesn't seem like that memory should be on another schools walls.

That's simply bizarre when one thinks about it.

my friend John was telling me about this at work not too long ago, I didn't realize he had read it in the Gazette.

It's absolutely sad that it has to be that way.

He said Tennessee reneged on a promise to give him a seven-year contract extension after he missed the first three games of the '92 season after heart surgery. He blamed a coup led by then-assistant Phillip Fulmer, who replaced him and still coaches the Volunteers.
Let it go Johnny...just let it go.

While people may not agree that Fulmer's has been a great coach of late, when he took over he put fire in this program that was struggling somewhat and they won a few they werent suppose to, then Majors came back they started playing bad again. When Fulmer's entrance at UT was somewhat like Bruce Pearl's in that there was a new energy around it. People may not agree on how well he's done since 99' but before that he brought some new energy to the program. Major's should get over what happened 13 or 14 years ago. He went back to Pittsburgh and had some terrible seasons.

Yeah, struggling so badly they won the SEC 2 of the previous 3 seasons and had played in a major bowl each year.

Yeah But to Majors, winning the SEC was good enough...Fulmer propelled us into national contention. Even yoiu gotta admit that losing to USC, BAMA and Arkansas after fulmer had us at 3-0 (wins over UGA and UF) is pretty much a sign that something wasnt right.

Yeah, a power struggle among the head coach, AD, and the offensive coordinator will tend to cause problems.
