A much needed tackling thread..........

At the start of the season againts Cal we tackled great and persuit of the ball by our defense was terrific. Later in the season we look like the colts stoping the run. I know we have had key injuries but one arm tackling is for flag football. If we learned to tackle our D would not be so porous and win us a couple more games that are close battles. Who ever runs tackling drills should lite a fire under the Ds .

I think poor tackling is a problem in all of college and pro football.

Well, for every team, tackling tends to get worse as the year progresses. More injuries (even minor), less energy. I mean really, after 7-8 games of nicks, bruises, pains, you aren't going to be at your 100% best.

The not wrapping up is what bothers me. Seems every time I see a WR catch a pass over the middle, DMO or Hefney come flying in with some power hit, just trying to knock the guy to the ground, no attempt to wrap him up and make sure he goes down.

UT is infamous for arm tackles and broken tackles against our defense. I think the main problem is not a good fundimental development in a lot of these players during the offseason. i miss the days of tenacious defense and gang tackles. shows that everyone is finishing at the ball, at all times!!
